The Asus Strix GL502VS-DS71 offers the performance of the GTX 1070 and the robust build quality of the Strix chassis, all at a reasonable price of $1,700.

Great performance, Good display with G-Sync, Outstanding build quality, Reasonable price

Mediocre battery life, Blue display tint, Large grayscale inaccuracy
Asus sent us one of the first 15-inch notebooks with the extremely fast Pascal GPU GeForce GTX 1070. The informed reader expects big performance gains and is not disappointed. The manufacturer focuses on continuity for the other aspects of the system, which is usually the correct decision.

comprehensive and modern port selection, pretty frugal for the performance, excellent maintainability, nice and well-built chassis, very good 3D performance, decent multimedia speakers, generally good input devices, high-contrast IPS display, decent WLAN performance, additional 1-TB HDD, 8 GB...

response times might be too slow for ambitious gamers, creaking sounds from the rear of the chassis under pressure, gliding capabilities of the touchpad not perfect, no accessories despite the high price, rather mediocre SSD performance, only 2 RAM slots, very loud under maximum load
The ASUS ROG GL502VS-DB71 is certainly impressive. It delivers almost double the level of gaming performance over previously available single-GPU notebooks, which is superb. It’s one of those gaming laptops that achieves exactly what it should, thanks to its quad-core CPU, DDR4 memory, latest GPU in...

Nice gaming-specific design features. Latest NVIDIA GeForce GTX1070 GPU, with G-Sync. Plenty of storage and a speedy solid-state boot drive.

Small keyboard for such a large laptop.
The Strix is an excellent mid-range gaming laptop. It may not have a premium build, and it suffers from middling battery life, but it has more than enough power to handle any game you might care to throw at it. Even in virtual reality.
ASUS has built a powerful gaming system, with all the latest technology inside. The Core i7-6700HQ is well known, and very capable. There will likely be a Kaby Lake update for quad-core processors soon, and we’ll see how they compare, but for now this is a capable CPU for a portable computer.
While gaming notebooks have increasingly become powerful over the years, it’s a generally accepted fact that you’re still trading off a good chunk of potential performance when you go mobile, since mobile versions of the most important part of a gaming rig, the GPU, isn’t quite as powerful as its...
"Asus has built a very solid machine around an incredible new GPU."
Performance is amazing, only negative is having a camera. I would have liked it to be made out of a metal like macbooks are even if that means it's a little heavy.

Awesome CPU, Desktop grade GPU, 120hz screen, Backlit keyboard (red), ROG Gaming Center (Gives you your temps and you can raise fan speeds), Doesn't have a mic, Very lightweight, Doesn't get hot and is very quiet

It has a webcam, ^First off, it has terrible quality, secondly, it has no slide/shutter to disable it, Building material isn't the greatest, but isn't terrible.
Read a lot of reviews about poor temps and battery issues. I've had no problems with temps or battery discharging while gaming. I seem to have received a good unit. Upon arrival i reformatted the m2 ssd and installed Win 10 pro. Not all the drivers on ASUS website are the latest or even present.

This laptop is fast. Boot time is around 5 seconds with the m2 ssd. Games look and play great with the 1070 and Gsync. My temps are 40c idle and 80c load.

-Speakers are lacking, make sure to install ASUS AudioWizard app to help -Build quality is ok. The plastic case makes flex noises and the screen bezel is large -No user replaceable battery with 6 or 8 cells -Off the charger battery life 2.5 hours.
This worked out to be a good demo laptop, for my VR projects. However I did not take into account the weight of the charger itself, aside from the laptop.I was looking for a light weight laptop to carry around and this seemed to be the lightest most reasonably priced laptop with the Nvidia GTX1070...
My trivial complaint is keyboard quality control. Got a defective space bar. Gets stuck.Putting that aside this is a workhorse. But I think the 1070 is an overkill for the 1080 panel. This could easily power game on a 1044p panel or maybe a 1080 but with higher refresh.
Battery life of only 2 hours (no gaming, just doing random stuff, writing). Reviews generally say battery life is not great (~ 4 hours), but 2 hours is REALLY BAD.
