Acer's 15.6-inch laptop offers an AMD APU from the Stoney Ridge generation, a quick SSD, and an additional 2.5-inch hard drive. The battery life leaves something to be desired.
-
+
matte display, barely warms up, SSD+HDD, maintenance hatch, AC-WLAN, quick memory-card reader
-
-
dark, low-contrast display, average battery life at best
Acer’s 15.6-inch laptop scores some major points with its hardware combination of a powerful Ryzen 3 2200U APU, a fast SSD and 8 GB of dual-channel RAM. However, the screen and thermal performance disappoint.
-
+
matte screen, SSD, doesn't overheat, fast SD card reader
-
-
TN panel with poor contrast and viewing angles, average battery life at best, only one USB 3.1 Gen 1 port
The Aspire 3 A315-51 scores well for its powerful processor, fast SSD, and reasonable price. There is no Windows OS installed though, and the display and battery life are unimpressive.
-
+
matte display, Full HD display, SSD, maintenance cover, AC Wi-Fi, fast memory card reader
-
-
dark and low contrast display, poor viewing angles, average battery life, no USB Type-C port
Overlook the basic display and the Aspire A315-51 is a decent everyday laptop, available for a low asking price.
-
+
Attractive and solid design, Decent connectivity, Comfortable, comprehensive typing experience
-
-
Limited performance, Very basic display
I would say absolutely get this laptop if you only want to spend less than $400 but if you can spend $650 get the Acer gaming laptop.

In fact I would say this is the best $400 laptop you can buy. I can play many FPS games with between 55 to 75 frames per second averages about high 50s to 60 ish.

The only problem I have is that the screen has terrible viewing angles and the battery life is worse than a phone. Eventually you will find a good angle to position the screen and you don’t notice it anymore.
When you first get the laptop any un-associated file types that you attempt to access will lock the laptop. Purchased to run Corel occasionally as a backup laptop. It will load and run Corel but will crash out pretty frequently.
THis is the worst computer I ever owned. After the first year updates for windows10 would no longer update. I was advised that Acer did not load he program correctly for updates. One year later
My wife and I are very happy with the laptop. I am not so happy with the Square Trade warranty that I purchased. Registration was so confusing that it never got done. We'll see if repair work is needed whether the warranty was worth purchasing.
Good value laptop and has plenty of memory.Would say it could do with a numerical keypad instead of the numbers been at the top of the qwerty keyboard, but its simple to use and fast runner
Excellent staff helpful.Efficient.5 star
It's not as good as I hoped, the pad is very sensitive and sometimes barely touch it and I lose stuff I was looking at, to widen and close in on the pad is not great, but for the price it's average I suppose
This is a good little laptop. Quite fast. Very light to carry. It has no CD drive but can use an external CD drive easily so this isn't a problem.
Bought for general internet and basic office use, does job absolutely fine, no problems with usage or setting up.
