With its extensive media-handling capability and excellent print quality, the P600 is an excellent companion to a high-end prosumer camera kit. If we must nit-pick about something, it’s the lack of a roll paper cutter that slices the print off the roll when finished and the 13-inch limitation of...

Excellent color accuracy and saturation, Extensive media handling, including roll paper, Black inks great for monochrome and color prints

The Epson SureColor P600 inkjet printer delivers absolutely top-tier photo and graphics output, but usability issues can make for a frustrating experience.

  • +

Impressively high-quality output. Can print to a maximum size of 13 by 19 inches for cut sheets, 13 by 129 inches with roll paper. Fine art papers available.

  • -

Usability issues include some fine-art papers being hard to feed properly. Long lags for some housekeeping tasks.

Desktop photo inkjet printer release cycles are glacially slow compared to those of digital cameras so it was something of a surprise to learn Epson was going to launch the 13-inch SureColor P600 Professional Photo Printer this morning.

Our bottom line? Whether graphic arts are an expensive hobby for you or not, if you’re proud of the photos or artwork you create, and want to see them reproduced in the best possible quality—and big—Epson’s SureColor P600 won’t disappoint you.

  • +

Superb output quality (and quiet operation), Supports cut sheets to 13x19 inches, or roll paper to 13 inches wide, Switches matte-black and photo-black inks without cartridge removal, Prints on CDs/DVDs

  • -

Wastes ink when switching black modes, Printer itself is moderately priced, but ink is pricey

The arrival of superlative online print services such as PhotoBox, The Print Space and Metroprint has called into question whether, as a keen but non-professional photographer, there’s any point in having your own high-quality printer, the kind that takes eight or nine wincingly expensive ink...

I saw this unit at the BETT (Education Show) at the end of January and the quality of its output was the reason I requested it. I knew it would be big and expected the normal review place in my cramped office not to be enough, I was wrong.

Although it's a very capable A3+ desktop printer that will suit many serious photo enthusiasts, the SC-P600 isn't a real game-changer. Although the P600 includes a slightly revised ink set, a few more interface options and uses slightly less power, if you already have an R3000 that is working well,...

I'm very disappointed that 14 months after purchasing this printer, I'm starting to have problems. It continues to "not recognize ink cartridges" even though they are more than half way full and were purchased from epson. I called epson but since the warranty expired, they can't do anything.

My photographic art really stands out when printed on the heavy fine art paper. It looks hand painted rather than printed. The colors are a perfect match to my iMAC monitor and required no adjustments.

Used the P600 to replace a perfectly acceptable R2880. While I was always pleased with the R2880, the P600 has the more-advanced Ultrachrome HD ink set, resulting in a deeper D-max (black level), and has other minor improvements. Installation was simple, quick, and initial prints are gorgeous.

This will be the fifth Epson Pro printer I have used and it is a good improvement over both the Photo R2000 and the Pro 3880. It takes a little time to get use to the touch screen, but the increase in ink cartridge capacity from the R2000 is welcome.

Using the latest firmware on Windows 10. I cannot print with black matte ink. No matter how I change the settings, it only prints in photo black. Worthless printer, will never buy Epson again.

Setup was a breeze. A welcome surprise was the ink tanks are full, not the half tank of ink usually shipped with a new printer. I have printed a few photos and really cannot tell a difference between this and the R3000.

I realize there are multiple factors that can result in having clogged print heads but I'm not a printer novice and have had several photo printers through the years. This is the last Epson printer I will buy.

I purchased this printer as an upgrade from my still functional Epson R2400. One of the reasons for buying the P600 was it's ability to easily print on new photo quality card media.
