GoPro one ups its own top camera with the Hero6 Black and its superior stabilization and performance in the same small waterproof package as its predecessor.
-
+
The GoPro Hero6 Black has groundbreaking electronic video stabilization for the category, a long list of resolutions and frame rates to choose from and overall improved image quality. Its faster Wi-Fi makes mobile transfers a little less painful.
-
-
It's pricey at $500, £500 or AU$750 and all those extra features and faster performance don't do battery life any favors.
The Hero6 is an excellent action camera, a true class-leading flagship and a significant refinement of the Hero5. But getting back to the question of whether or not it is worth $500. In an ideal world, we would have seen the Hero6 introduced at $400 and the Hero5 would have dropped to $300.
-
+
Excellent electronic image stabilization, 4K/60 and 1080p/240, Improved dynamic range and color, Great mobile app, Refined, if familiar, design
-
-
HEVC video is very demanding
The GoPro Hero6 Black is an update to our favorite action cam. It adds higher frame rates, digital stabilization, and GPS, but costs more than the Hero5.
-
+
Compact, go-anywhere design. 4K video at up to 60fps. Strong digital stabilization. Loads of slow-motion video options. HDR and Raw photo capture. Touch screen. GPS.
-
-
Pricey. QuikStories editing app needs work. Wi-Fi video transfers are slow and impact battery life.
With its faster processor and ability to shoot at higher frame rates and a higher resolution, the GoPro Hero6 Black is an excellent successor to the already great Hero5 Black. It's nearly identical in other ways, though, which is a good thing.

Impressive image stabilization, New Touch Zoom feature, High-resolution images, video (4K, 60 fps), Better images in low light, Superslick slow motion
-
-
Occasional charging issues, No improvement to battery life
There’s no denying the quality of the new 2017 GoPro Hero 6 4K UHD action camera. The company behind it has outdone even its already great 2016 Hero 5 model (which we reviewed here) and we’re definitely impressed.
-
+
Awesome, Fantastic electronic image stabilization, Visuals on photo and video are better than ever, Mobile app is great, Tough, weather resistant design, Fits GoPro Hero 5 accessories, Much faster WiFi transfer
-
-
4K shooting drains power and memory, Controls still a bit clumsy, Pricey 4K action camera
The Hero 6 is the first camera from GoPro to feature the company's custom GP1 image processor, and it looks like a successful debut. Video framerates have been doubled almost across the board, making the Hero 6 the slow-mo lovers dream.
-
+
Improved stabilization, Large selection of slow-mo options, Greater manual control of exposure, Upgraded image processor, Improved stabilization, Large selection of slow-mo options, Greater manual control of exposure, Upgraded image processor

Pricier than the Hero 5 at launch, No update to the design, File compatibility issues on slow-mo videos, Pricier than the Hero 5 at launch, No update to the design, File compatibility issues on slow-mo videos
When the HERO 6 Black was first announced, my initial thought was that it was going to be a marginal update over the GoPro HERO5 Black … I was way wrong. This is flat out the best action camera that GoPro or any other company has ever created. Here’s what you can expect from it.
-
+
Stunning 4K footage up to 60fps with better codec and compression, Huge ecosystem of compatible accessories and mounts, Super rugged design – water resistant down to 10 meters, Vastly improved image quality for videos and photos + superb image stabilization, Faster processor makes using this camera...
-
-
Expensive, Battery drains quickly when shooting in 4K, Sharing media still has plenty of road blocks
The Hero 6 Black is an accomplished action camera, and the best on the market in my opinion, but there are a couple of serious issues that prevent it from gaining my wholehearted recommendation. The first is the price. Even though it’s £100 cheaper than the original, £399 is still too much.
The GoPro Hero 6 Black improves over the Hero 5 Black on multiple fronts. It’s the best action camera you can buy today.

+
Superb electronic image stabilisation, Improved image quality, Higher frame rates and resolution combinations, Waterproof to 10m without a case
-
-
Voice controls can be a little unreliable, Most expensive GoPro Hero to date
GoPro Hero 6 Black: A superb action camera with great image quality and image stabilisation; but rather pricey
-
+
4K video recording at 60fps, Great image stabilisation, Same excellent design as Hero 5
-
-
Much more expensive than Hero 5, Poor image quality in low light, App needs polish
I'm still debating on whether I want to return the Hero6... I got it right before a snowboard trip and started using it immediately and was having problems from the get go. Yes, the quality of the video and photos are amazing, but when the camera doesn't charge or turn off or record when it doesn't...
If you're buying this camera for video footage only, its amazing. The stabilization is great! But, if you're using it for video and audio, you're forced to buy a Gopro adapter for $50 plus a microphone which still isn't that great of quality. Gopro 5 also has this problem.

Easy to Use, Good Battery Life, Great Picture Quality, Image Stabilization, Large Clear LCD

poor, audio
This camera is AWESOME. Purchased it for our kids and for all of us to use on our upcoming family vacations. A lot to learn but this camera does EVERYTHING!!!!

Small, waterproof, stabilizes your movies

NONE!
I require a action camera to film skydiving activities. After extensive research the go pro6 came up the best but the then price of £499 was off putting but the day after reduced to £399 so it was a no brainier.
This is really cool. Can do some hi tech stuff but if you don't have the right computer software it's a problem.
It's ok, just that ok. I owned the Hero+ and the Session, so there's really no major difference just the 4k. The interface is pretty much the same and the picture is not EXACTLY clearer.
Great option for taking pictures and videos on the go, especially where ruggedness is required.
Is still a good camera but I would expect after so many generation, GoPro got it right this time, considering the price range. There are still issues, quite a few of them...like camera not charging properly, sometimes is just a nightmare to connect it to a phone, etc.
I purchased this so my daughter and her friends could make snowboard videos. The stabilization is great and they mostly filmed at 2.7K at 60 dps which captured smooth action and still allowed zooming in on a 1080 timeline.
If you’re an outdoor enthusiast that enjoys photographing or filming your adventures, this action camera is perfect. Its size will not let you down when it comes to capturing the moment. Whether you’re hitting the local single track or making a splash through the rapids.
