Hp 15.6" ZBook 15 G3 Mobile Workstation

HP’s mobile workstations are traditionally some of the most expensive devices on the market. This did not change with the new ZBook 15 G3. But can the notebook for 4,000 Euros (~$4558) meet our high expectations?

  very robust and sophisticated chassis, good performance, very good IPS display (after calibration), fast SSD, long battery runtimes, modern ports, good expandability, fast Wi-Fi, 3 years warranty, individual configurations

  some parts hard to access (SIM slot!), battery not accessible from the outside anymore, processor cannot utilize its full potential over longer periods, PWM, loud and hot under maximum load, fans rattle, expensive

We're particularly pleased with the two Thunderbolt 3 ports, which let you connect anything from a stack of monitors to a desktop dock, and the three-year warranty—the ZBook is built to last, and feels like it.

There are some great components in this mobile workstation, starting with 16GB of DDR4 memory, which keeps it running nice and fast even while working with some pretty demanding software.

Not recommended unless you are willing to invest burn-in time before installing apps. I am still not sure if a replacement was a good idea. We shall see..

  Performance was outstanding for a short time. Bought it for that reason, in particular using the application Mathematica. Have had good experience with prior HP products.

  Failed installing Windows update: operating system not available. SSD failure confirmed with diagnostics. Unfortunately, this occurred AFTER I had installed $$$ of software for a single machine. For a laptop in this price range, this is completely unacceptable.

The Computer is Excellent, fast. The reliability test will take time, but I have never had an HP fail that test.

If you have an employee who needs to be mobile but wants computing power this is the way to go. It's smaller than other mobile work stations out there but still handles the same type of load.

  It is actually a lot lighter than I expected. Extremely fast and can handle just about anything you throw at it.

  Expensive but you get some nice equipment for the price.
