If you are looking at this then you probably know enough about what the CPU can do. 6 cores / 12 threads, 28 CPU lanes etc The only real comment I have is due to using paste instead of the standard solder for this type of cpu.. You are now looking at a small space heater.
I jumped the gun on this and didn't know there were other chips better suited towards gaming. So far this hasn't disappointed me at all. I'm coming from an I7-4790k which is still great chip. This is billed moreso as the productivity chip for content creators. I play 1440p and 4k whenever possible.
Fast, runs like a champ. glad I got it, recommend highly.
I bought a 7800x when they came out I got lucky coming from a respectable 2500k @ 4.7. My chip can hit 5ghz easy and if I had a delid along with my big water setup I could get 5.2. That is a 100th percentile CPU!. If you are looking at it as of Oct 5 2017 get a coffeelake instead save the power.
Raise the Hat for Intel on this one With 6 cores and 12mb I'm so happy with it man it's so so fast on games and programs Great job Intel
This is a very good processor for multitasking - have had it since it came out with no issues. Yes, the 8700k does seem to beat it in different areas, but you do get some benefits with x299 vs z370 like more PCIE lanes.
Works fantastic in new workstation board and trial copy of Windows. Once I have all the components and software I will replace my main computer's components with these.
Computer boots in no time, runs as much stuff as I like without slowing down.
I’m afraid to open it. Holy crap. I think they kicked this thing down the road a few times.
