The Skylake-X-based Core i7-7820X offers strong multi-threaded performance and a lower price point than Intel's Broadwell-E equivalent. But we did experience some performance regression in a few game titles and applications.

Nearly six years ago in November of 2011, Intel divided its lineup by releasing its first HEDT (High-End Desk-Top) in the form of the X79 platform and a trio of Sandy Bridge-E CPU’s with the flagship 6-core Extreme Edition Core i7-3960X.
Compared to Intel's previous offerings and even its current 7900X, the 7820X sits at a sweet spot in regards to price and performance, at least in the high-end desktop market space.

The Intel response to the AMD Ryzen 7 threat has materialised with the current release of five HEDT chips sat on top of the also-new X299 platform. The eight-core, 16-thread Skylake-X chip, known as Core i7-7820X, is of particular interest as its £550 asking fee isn't too far removed from premium...

Very good multi-core perf, Solid overclocking potential, Cheap for an Intel eight-core chip, Better than AMD at single-thread

PCIe lanes not great, Threadripper on horizon, Expensive from platform POV
It doesn't disappoint in performance. Gaming, video editing, and encoding are a snap. Temps are decent under load with the Corsair H100i V2 (30 degrees). I was using the Corsair H80i V2 on it for a little bit and they were definitely ~15 degrees higher.
Amazing product... overclocks very well and the scores on Cinebench are amazing!
