There’s almost nothing to dislike about the new ThinkPad T470s. It’s got the features, power, and portability to satisfy any professional or home PC buyer in the market for a laptop to take on the go. Yes, the machine can get expensive as you click those “upgrade” radio buttons.

The ThinkPad T470s is an excellent performer ideal for business use and offs respectable entry-level gaming performance as well. Despite its full 15 Watt Kaby Lake Core i5 CPU, it never exhibited hot spots or suffered from throttling issues due to thermal challenges.

We’re glad to send off the ThinkPad T470s with a recommendation, though with one tiny reservation. Lenovo’s own ThinkPad X1 Carbon (5 generation/2017) is right around the same price as our T470s with a nearly identical loadout.
