Lenovo's 15-inch Ideapad Y700 Touch might not be an obvious choice if you're in the market for a midrange gaming laptop, but with superb battery life and good performance and features for the price, it should be on your short list.

Terrific battery life. Good performance, features for the price. Decent amount of storage.
-
-
Video card may soon be obsolete. No USB-C port.
Even though it might not be the fault of the processor manufacturer, AMD-based notebooks do not have the best reputation. The reviewed model of the new Lenovo Y700 confirms this statement.
-
+
improved build quality, expandable RAM, M.2 and 2.5 inch slots, quiet keyboard, IPS panel with great contrast, good sound

Maintenance could be simpler, pretty few interfaces (no USB 3.1 Type-C, no DisplayPort), limited gamut, slow response time of the display (measured) & PWM, partly slow, relatively high power consumption, clock rate drops under 3D load
In short, the IdeaPad Y700 is not only a great gaming notebook, but a pleasantly practical notebook for many other purposes, including work and play. It’s fairly priced, especially the model we reviewed, and it ticked almost all of the right boxes—enough of them, anyway, to bring home an Editors’...

Beautiful IPS display, Solid gaming performance, Nice-sounding JBL speakers, Aggressive-looking design, Quiet fans, Almost eight hours of battery
-
-
Lackluster keyboard feel, Cumbersome touch pad, Merely average port selection
I really wish Lenovo had provided an option for Nvidia graphics on the 14-inch Y700, because even if it pushed the $700 price tag up by $100, Lenovo's entry-level gaming notebook would be a really sweet deal.
There is a lot to like about this budget gaming laptop, with all the components packed into a slim design which boasts a 15-inch display. You get an Intel 6th Generation i7 processor in this laptop and it also includes 16GB of very fast DDR4 memory which both ensure it runs very well.
With an in-depth look at the Lenovo Ideapad Y700, its time to look at the complete picture again. If you are in the market for a gaming laptop, and have around $1000 to spend, should the Y700 be on your list to look at? Let’s start with the design.
-
+
Decent Entry-level gaming, Good all-arounder, 80mm M.2 port, Durability, Sturdy build, Good Keyboard
-
-
Limited USB ports, Absence of USB Type-C, No option to turn off Windows key, Upgrading should be more user-friendly
Lenovo is positioning the Y700 as a multimedia laptop, more than a gaming machine and for that, we feel it delivers very well. It costs Rs. 99,990 and if you buy it from the company's store, you'll be able to pick up at a discount. It's expensive but then again, which true gaming laptop isn't?
-
+
Good gaming performance, Runs cool and quiet, Comfortable keyboard and good speakers, Supports Windows Hello and AR apps, Good design and build
-
-
Not user-upgradable, Average battery life, Fingerprint magnet
This 15-inch gaming laptop looks nice and its price tag is even nicer, just don't expect to run games on Ultra settings.
The jump from the Y50 to the 15.6-inch Y700 brings about a few important upgrades, but there are still some major holes in terms of features and accessibility that have yet to be implemented.
-
+
no major CPU or GPU throttling issues, fast display response times, no major backlight bleeding, improved build quality, upgradeable SODIMM RAM, M.2, and 2.5-inch SATA bays, quiet keyboard
-
-
end-user maintenance could have been easier, pulsating fan when idling on High Performance, limited connectivity options; no USB Type-C or mDP, no dedicated Macro or auxiliary keys, heavy for its size, limited color coverage
I had this laptop for 2 weeks, and I love it. The build quality is excellent, feels solid, the keyboard is great but needs some time to get used to, the 4k display is gorgeous and the colors are fairly accurate, the system is blazing fast and very responsive, boots up in a few seconds.
I use the machine while plugged in 99% of the time, haven't assessed battery life. Overall I'm completely satisfied and doubt I could find a better machine at this price point. Recommended

I bought this is a portable indie game / movie machine to keep myself occupied during downtime away from my desktop at home. Excellent display, snappy performance. I'm impressed with how well a 960m is keeping up even with newer AAA releases.

5400 rpm HD, but its a storage drive - the SSD gets the job done with applications and games Lenovo bloatware but that's unavoidable with any retail product and easily dealt with
The day I ordered this, I was so excited. It was the first laptop purchase I had made in about 3 years. Upon receipt is when I started to regret my purchase. It zipped along when I powered it on, set-up was seamless like any other new windows-based device I've ever purchased.
Everything about this computer is great, except.... The keyboard layout... It is nothing short of miserable. Whomever decided to design it with a small right side shift key, and then place the up arrow in the space next to that key should be severely disciplined.
