This monocular is very well designed and well built. The close focus is especially nice. The porro prism construction makes it wider than if it were a roof prism but I find this makes it easier to hold. For bugs and such I use a small handle screwed into the tripod socket.

I commute hundreds of miles weekly through wildlife areas and along migratory flyways. The Minox Macroscope is easily carried around my neck and I can pull over & stop the car and quickly spot & watch birds & animals. Using the macro capability for close study of bugs is neat!

Nice scope, very sharp, close focus. Yes it's a pinch bigger than the others BUT it's sharper with a bigger field of vision.

I purchased this wonderful device a few weeks ago and I have to say that I am impressed! Excellent optics, pocketable, lightweight but good heft in the hand, weatherproof, easy to use, and the macro capability is excellent. Highly recommended. 'Nuff said.

I bought this to use 1) Outside in nature (bugs on flowers, etc.) and 2) In museums to examine works of art. It has good optics and lets in sufficient light, and it focuses as close as 14 inches, which allows you to see a lot of detail.

This monocular is very bulky because porro prisms instead of roof prisms. It is nearly the same size as a pair of Leica Ultravid 8x20 pocket binoculars, and significantly larger than most other monoculars.

Rather than add to the glut of positive reviews this gem has drawn, I'll address some published caveats: 1. Focus past is not to correct for bad eyesight, it's to accomodate manufacturing tolerances and temperature-induced variations in optical systems.

Shorter front focal distance = shallower depth of field and smaller field of view. That's inescapable optics. The quality of this device is apparent when focussing up close. Depth of field is paper-thin and field of view = ~3cm, which makes this practically a low-power two-hand-held one-light-path...

Overall, I'm pretty happy with this monocular. It's sharp, has good color and contrast. It's comfortable to hold, and easy to use. Exit diameter is OK- it's not hard to get the image to eye. I think it's a good value for the price.
