The Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-140mm F3.5-5.6 ASPH. Power OIS lens boasts a long 10x zoom range with surprisingly few compromises in optical quality.

  • +

Optically stabilized. 10x zoom range. Very little distortion. Good center sharpness through range. Quiet, snappy focus motor.

  • -

Some edge and telephoto sharpness issues. Pricey.

With this update of the LUMIX G Vario 14-140mm F4.0-5.8 ASPH Power O.I.S., Panasonic offers a much smaller and lighter version of its kit lens, which has a smooth and silent operation mode and looks perfect fitted to the GH3 and G6 LUMIX cameras.

This new 10x zoom lens for Micro Four Thirds system cameras, is an update to the existing lens, which is essentially the same specification, except that this lens has a marginally faster aperture throughout the zoom range.

When we tested this lens' predecessor, we liked it a lot, as it offered good performance for a 10x zoom. As this lens performs even better throughout the zoom range, we like it even more. Very few zoom lenses are able to deliver as consistently as this lens does throughout the zoom range.

  • +

Consistently good sharpness throughout the zoom range, Low distortion and falloff, Effective stabiliser, Compact and lightweight, Good build quality

  • -

CA levels may be high enough to cause concern for some, Maybe a tad expensive (but probably worth it!)

I own two Lumix bodies and 6 different lenses. I end up using this lens about 60% of the time, even though it's slower than the 35-100mm f2.8 and 12-35 f2.8 lenses I have. The range is optimal for general photography and street photography.

The lens that does it all. I've had this for about 4 months now. It's light as a feather and works in all situations for video and photo. Great for photos and video.

I bought this lens because it had a longer zoom reach than the Lumix G Vario 12-60 f/3.5 I had originally purchased with my new GH5 body. With the crop factor of this Micro Four Thirds lens, it maxes out at an equivalent 280mm -- adequate for most purposes, even for travel, but rendered even better...

4.5 stars would actually be closer. My Oly 25mm f/1.8 is a tad bit sharper.I traded in my Nikon D610 for an Olympus PEN-F looking for smaller, lighter -- something that would just be easier to carry and handle. I started with 2 very small lenses, Panasonic 12-32 f/3.5-5.6 and 35-100 f/4-5.6.

Great lens ,light weight but the focus ring and zoom ring can move a little more smoothly but its not a problem

Clear, sharp and nice color rendition. Great working range for all-around run-and-gun photo/video work on the GH5, emphasis on video. The OIS is good, but not superb, for video .. it does "jerk" into place when it latches onto objects during handheld pans.

This 14-140 mm lens replaced my old 14 - 42 mm Lumix lens. I also have the 100 to 300 mm Lumix lens. The problem that I had was that by the time I change to the longer lens for a close up shot, the wild life has moved on.
