I love this video camera. Perfect for travel as it's just the right size. I carry it around in a Nikon lens case. Fits like it was made for it. Video and photo quality are better than I expected! Very sharp. Accurate colors.
Excellent image quality in all hd or 4k settings. Also allows you to make a smaller mp4 video simultaneously for easily sharing to smartphone. Image stabilization is the best. Great for shots of kids performances even at a distance.
excellent picture, stabilization, and wifi
little to large for fitting in your pocket
So, I spent likely 800 hours researching cameras before making this purchase. I looked into everything from point and shoot, to DSLRs to camcorders. At the end of the day, I realized I'm not the type of person who will sit and attempt to frame a perfect image with a still camera.
This camera replaces my nine year old Sony HDR-SR1E which was one of the first 1080i camcorders available, I only changed because the LCD monitor touch screen failed. I sincerely hope this camera can last as long. Firstly, as ever in my experience with Sony it has a great feel of quality and build.
I bought this Handycam 3 months ago and thought the picture quality was, as expected, excellent. The image stabilisation is also excellent. However I find the microphone being located on top of the camcorder with only a small; aperture pointing forward, does not give the best quality sound...
I'm a train enthusiast and bought a FDR-AX33 a while back but this is waaaay better it's more wide angle, The zoom is really sharp and crisp n' clear, The audio is fantastic, and is light weight. If you're looking into getting your 1st 4K Camcorder this would be the best buy.
The camera deserves its video raves, but there's a flaw that's so unlike Sony, It takes a rubber band, like this white one, to secure the camera's shoe cover when using attachments, like this Sony XLR-K2M XLR adapter with shotgun mic.
Bought to replace an HDR-SR12E, superb picture quality, slightly more bulky than SR12E (bigger battery doesn't help) but great wide angle bigger zoom lens. Zoomed subjects tend to wander about a bit on Steadyshot, so still needs a steady hand.
Shutter left open, no memory card, no software
If you are still wondering whether you should buy this camera, then stop worrying about the price as it's worth every penny and more.
