Limited speaker configurations, Not all HDMI inputs support HDCP 2.2, Unintuitive setup procedure, Menus are overdue an update, Remote fiddly and...
I have owned this Yamaha AV receiver for a little over a month. It replaces an ONKYO TX-SR608 (7 years old) which works fine. I simply wanted an upgrade. Well, I got a huge upgrade and more.

Authoritative power, clarity of sound, outstanding feature set.

The remote could be a little nicer, but I use a Harmony 650 anyway, so no big deal.
This is a very nice receiver, I like the number of HDMI inputs, I also like the "component" input. It also has great sound and looks really nice sitting in my entertainment center. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the remote.
Must have. Great new features. Running the receiver from my phone anywhere in the house. Great controls via bluetooth. The sound is amazing and well worth the money spent. I cannot be happier. Only thing I have not yet figured out is how to run my components as a pass through on the receiver.
The + is the control with music cast from my cell or my wife's. With the on screen setup everything was a breeze. No issues with Bluetooth or setting up Pandora. (You will need to download the full manual to help with all the features)The negative is the audio between zone 1 and 2 has a slight time...
Great overall but the HDMIs had problems; only three of them worked.
This receiver is an upgrade to my Yamaha RX-V481 which is still a good amp. However this upgrade is far more powerful for my use. The sound is richer than the previous one with nice bass, mellow midrange and a crisp top end response.
Replaced a 15+ year old Yamaha HTR 550 receiver.Pros: Great sound, connectivity/control via iPhone/iPad is awesome, if you're like me you'll use your phone more often than the supplied remote for every day functions. 2 Zone capability.
This unit sounds at least as good as the famous old 70s Yamaha monster stereos I've had when properly configured, which wasn't exceedingly difficult to do. It's also a lot easier than the old stereos to achieve the proper levels for the best sound as each speaker can be individually configured with...

YPAO. user manual, wifi direct & bluetooth seem lacking
Bought as it allows me to use my B&W wireless headphones and sounds great when played through speakers too
Yamaha, no YAMAYEAH!! This thing blew my socks off! I've been a dedicated Onkyo guy until now. The sound this receiver produces is crazy tight. It was a little bright at first but once I got it dialed in I knew I would never own another receiver. It sounds amazing even at lower volumes.
