I use it in a successful pop punk band bridged into a ampeg 8x10av. For rock, its hard to beat in punchy attack, really glassy highs, and crispy purring lows. Its cheaper in price than buying a power amp and a tube preamp together.
This is the Cadillac of all amps. A really big, smooth riding, high powered, pimped out Cadillac! [ read more on Audiofanzine ] This amp works for me. Enough power for what I'm doing, and quite a bit of versatility. I'd almost say it's worth its weight in gold, if you can carry that.
I have wanted an ampeg svt for a long time..I threw down and got one (traded in a 300 watt fender head..older solid state model)..I have it rack mounted..in the rack with it..I have a tech 21 rpm preamp..a korg tuner..and a livewire power conditioner/surge suppressor.
This is a very strong, powerfull and remarkable equipment you can have if you are looking for a real sound delivery and the best for any ampeg or similar Upright Stand it Bass, this is the head I request everytime Im on tour with the Afro Cuban All Stars.
I've had my eye this amp for quite some time, saw the special 12 month pay plan and decided to take the leap. I've heard this amp in action and it sounds great Mono Bridged @ 1200 Watts RMS with a Gallien-Krueger Neo 412 Cabinet - rated for 1200 Watts RMS all night long and 2400 Watts Power...
Not mush difference in the mid selector but the low end is huge and highs that will part your hair for ya. and anything in between. its up to you. Im completely happy with it.
tone, grit... the umph
not sure yet
I have owned two of these, so there is obviously a great deal I like about the tone and the power.... oh the power! My complaint is the reliability. To be fair, I have gigged them tons of times, so they have been cold, hot, and jostled plenty.
tone, power, and umm power
We play deep dark heavy blues, tuned to Drop C. Of all the heads I have played the 4-pro was far bigger sounding, and had all the punch I look for.
you can get every sound you could possibly want out of this thing. the only downside is the amount of tweaking you have to do, but once you get dialed in lookout! i personally haven't heard better
tone versatility power
This amp has TONES of TONE!! I've had mine for four years now and play usually two shows a weekend sometimes four. No Joke. It still has so much volume, and I'm not referring to loudness which is without question loud! I'm referring to the expanse of the concussion and reverberation of the bass.
I have owned this amp for 2 years and love it. It has always performed well for me. The maion reason this amp is different than any other amp is that the footswitch allows you to set up the Grafic EQ as a volume boost, different tone, lead tone, rhythm tone or anything you want.
Options, Footpedal it a must for live performance.
no tube overdrive.
Great sound quality and versatility. I'm using this amp for hard rock/blues, and could not be happier with the sound. Especially with the gain cranked up a bit for a little "growl".
