Packing a GTX 1060 graphics card, the Acer Predator 15 (G9-593-72VT) delivers solid gaming performance along with decent battery life for a relatively modest price.

Pascal upgrade. Acer now uses the latest Pascal GPUs from Nvidia for the current Predator 15. We also get some additional features that were missing with the previous models. The design of the bulky 15-inch gaming notebook is still a matter of taste though.

The Acer Predator 15 ($1,699) is a midrange rig that serves up solid graphics and overall performance with a pretty display and a crazy-comfortable keyboard. My favorite thing about the VR-ready system is how cool it runs no matter the task.

  Despite a few nice design touches, this is still a gaudy-looking gaming laptop. All those fans can get loud when running at maximum speed.

In the last issue, we reviewed the Acer Predator XB1 monitor that debuted in IFA 2015. A monitor with that kind of spec is best paired with hardware that matches it, hardware like the Acer Predator 15. Unlike many other notebooks, the Predator 15 has a plastic matte body instead of a metallic one.

The Acer Predator 15 (model reviewed here) retails at RM 8,999 – it’s a great gaming notebook with powerful specs that bests many desktop systems but it’s heavy, not just in weight but in price as well.

I bought this to replace my MSI GE60 laptop, as it had kicked the bucket. With a 980M, this laptop is a gaming beast. It's a bit on the bulky side, which I knew going in to this purchase. It will not fit in most laptop backpacks, even 17 inch ones.
