Apple's aging mid-range tablet is still the perfect mix of size and performance for nearly everyone.

  • +

The iPad Air 2 has a great balance of size and weight. Crisp, bright display. iOS 9 runs perfectly, including split-screen apps.

  • -

Priced relatively high for a tablet; single speaker isn't that loud compared to iPad Pro.

Even slimmer and faster but just as sophisticated, enduring and elegant as its predecessor. The iPad Air 2 is surrounded by many superlatives and is really the fastest iPad so far. But there are also some smaller drawbacks, and iOS 8.1 is still not working perfectly.

  • +

Great design, High-quality materials, Fast components, Great display, Excellent GPS module, Covers many frequencies, Good camera in daylight, Good viewing angle stability, Decent speakers, Finally 2 GB memory, The iPad Air 2 is not only nice to look at, but also really fast.

  • -

Pressure-sensitive case, Configurable toggle was removed, Problems with iOS 8.1, Throttling of the CPU and GPU, Only LTE Cat. 4, No Bluetooth 4.1, NFC without antennas can only be used in combination with Apple Pay, Signal noise of the Bluetooth connection when there is no sound, Power adaptor too...

The iPad Air 2 is a worthy new iPad. It doesn’t reinvent the market, but it does perfect it. This is as close to Steve Jobs original vision for an iPad as we can imagine. It’s a fantastic tablet and outshines everything else out there in almost every meaningful way.

  • +

Thinner than any other Apple device, Screen brighter than iPad Air, Powerful new processor is a step up, iPads have best app selection of any tablet, Improved rear camera, Touch ID added

  • -

16GB model does not have enough storage, Speaker quality worse than Air 1, iPad Air 1 is $100 cheaper, Not water resistant, No MicroSD storage options

Now, don’t get us wrong—the iPad Air 2 is a phenomenal tablet that defines the state of the art. We recommend it without hesitation, especially for those who are wedded to Apple’s ecosystem—and who know their apps, and know they exist under the Apple umbrella.

  • +

Somehow, even thinner than ever, Very snappy performance, thanks to A8X chip upgrade, Fingerprint login, Better cameras

  • -

The familiar iPad-family gripes (no MicroSD card slot, reliance on iTunes), Rear camera lacks a flash, Physical mute/orientation-lock switch has been eliminated

I'd like to see better multitasking, and some other slates offer better benchmark scores, but the Air 2 is the only tablet that hits the trifecta for design, performance and endurance.

We give this model a 9.5 out of 10 for design, a 9.8 for hardware and a 9.5 for OS and UI. The final grade is 9.6 out of 10 and this is still the best 10 inch tablet (or close) that money can buy in 2014. However, the iPad Air 1 is also a very solid buy, since the price is lower now.

  • +

slim, but solid, very light, less glare than many tablets, good battery, loud speakers, good display, good cameras, ultra fast browser, excellent hardware, fast rendering, good productivity

  • -

big bezel, long charging, back vibrates a lot, UI getting old.

Bottom line, if you have an iPad 4 or older or an original mini, you’ll love the improvements in the iPad Air 2. If you already have the Air, then you may not feel the improvements are worth spending hundreds of dollars for and may be happier waiting for the Air 3 or whatever Apple brings us next.

  • +

Thinner and lighter than any previous full-sized iPad, Improved camera, NFC chip lets you use Apple Pay for online purchases, Faster than previous iPads, Better sound than previous iPads, Thumbprint reader for increased security and for use with Apple Pay

  • -

Incremental updates may not seem worth the purchase to people with the iPad Air

Make no mistake, there's a clear separation in performance between Apple's iPad Air 2 and the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. There's also a gap in horsepower compared to most other mobile products, regardless of platform.

The iPad Air 2 is not worth the upgrade if you already have the Air 1. Aside from the enhanced hardware, better camera and Touch ID, there simply isn’t anything compelling. The Absence of NFC relegates Apple Pay to being able to make App Store purchases, without having to type in your password.

  • +

Anti-reflection screen coating, Faster processing, More RAM, Wireless Connection is faster, Touch ID

  • -

Very Minor Upgrade, No Mute button or rotation lock, Apple SIM does not work in Canada or Australia

Love this tablet. Love how thin it its, but sometimes because it's too thin and slick, it slips out of my hands. Overall, would definitely recommend!

I purchased this item yesterday. It might sound dumb, but I wanted to play a game that I love. The game kept kicking me out and causing me all kinds of headaches. So, I bit the bullet and purchased the apple ipad air 2 and boy am I happy. It is like stepping into the 21st century from the dark ages.

I bought this because my iPad2 was really slow and starting to act up and do strange things. The iPad Air2 is lightning fast in comparison. It's retinal display is a real pleasure as well.

What can be said that hasn't been already said. Faster, better battery life, startlingly sharp and bright screen. I love it!

The iPad Air 2 is light, fast and secure with the thumb/finger print button. At first I thought it wasn't a big deal but wow! It is so nice to be able to unlock your iPad and unlock your password manager with a thumb press instead of having to key in a password or PIN.

Ipad is great, accesories not great. Not a fan of the case. The cord that was sent with it does not fit the port for keyboard.

I've had an iPhone for several years and this is my first iPad. i bought it to use for work. So far I'm very happy with it. It's much easier than carrying my laptop around with me and I can do pretty much the same things with it that I could do with the laptop.
