We now have four of these, and they get used in all sorts of situations, always providing excellent, professional results. The SPL rejection from the sides is excellent. We have used them on fixed rigs overhead on news desk sets, and also on a handheld boom pole. Solid. Professional.

Good sound nice natural tone ...I've been very happy with the mic ...The only improvement I can think of is I wish the output was a little hotter and that's only because of my preamp in my recorder, but for money it "AT897" was best mic out there !

I used this for the first time this weekend and it was a huge step up from the sennheiser mke400. Sounds so much better. Now I'm starting to get used to this mic tho. what becomes aparent really quick is that the noise floor is pretty high. The mic sounds good but for budget shoots.

I've shot two features and three shorts with this microphone, and they all sound fantastic. It's very easy to work with this audio, especially if you go through an external recorder.

This microphone was the perfect price point for my needs, which I feel place it between consumer-quality gear and professional gear. I was looking for 75 db or better SNR and this fits the bill at 77 db.

I really like the sound quality of this microphone -- it works well with my Tascam 100 MKii, and the length of this shotgun is perfect. I can fit all my gear perfectly into a small backpack. The sound is bright and clear, and is my go-to for interviews and even voice-tracking.

Sturdy, affordable, crisp. No problems so far and we've used it on set at WarTorn Productions multiple times.

I use the AT897 for recording sound in my films. Before this, I was using the rode videomic for all my sound. The original one. It was decent, but just plugging this mic into my zoom h2n recorder made a huge difference. I could hear the difference just in the recorder's built-in speaker.

Great shotgun mic on a budget. Usually only shoot single person interviews, but when I needed to recorded two subjects a once I bought another AT897.
