The Canon Speedlite 270EX II Flash takes over the small/light/inexpensive position in Canon's flash lineup, replacing the Canon Speedlite 270EX Flash , which not long ago supplanted the Canon Speedlite 220EX Flash .
I prefer my Canon 220EX which sells for half the price used. This 270EX II adds some features I'll never use like bounce and wireless control, but falls short on what matters, which is being able to focus in the dark without blinding my friends and recycling fast enough for me not to miss my photos.
I've had the Canon 20D,40D and 7D and all of those had a pop-up flash. The new 5D Mark IV that i now have does not! I usually do a lot of studio work but every now and then find myself in just casual shooting situations!
I Purchased the Speedlight 270 EXII and was in hopes to use it as a secondary flash. I took a trip to Thailand for three weeks and I found out to my surprise that I was using the 270 EXII as my primary flash during the daylight to brighten faces.

Small size, good flash coverage, cost, Tilt - Zoom capability, slave capable, Worked Very well on my G-16 and 18-300mm Tamron lens on my Canon 80D. Easy in / off capable

Battery life could be better, but not to bad. Carry an extra set of 2 if expecting extended shooting.
I bought this to go on my EOS M a few years ago as opposed to the tiny 90 EX. I wanted something small but not that small. The head tilts up to bounce and manually zooms (pull it out) for telephoto. It can be used as a slave and remote shutter trigger too.
I've owned a 30D, 7D and now a 5D MkIII. I loved the pop-up flash on my two cropped sensor Canon's, but wanted a the full sensor Canon. Unfortunately apparently Canon believes that if you buy something more expensive/sophisticated than a cropped sensor body, you will be using a flash from your hot...
This flash has added a depth of color to my pictures especially the pictures that I take inside. I really can see the difference. I'm so glad that I chose this flash.

Attach Securely, Flexible, Durable, Small lightweight
I had a little disagreement with what was pictured and what I received, but, after a bit of persistent hounding, both companies made a valiant attempt to make things right.
I bought the 270EX for my XT and G10 . I have a 430EX but it is still too big and in certain situation, very cumbersome. A 430EX makes the G10 non compact. I can put the G10 and 270 in a small bag during travel and outings. The flash runs on 2AAs and has a recycle time of 3 seconds give or take.

compact, powerful for it size. E-TTL

Price, a bit expensive considering the old 430EX is about $150.00
Love this tiny flash, which works beautifully (and balances beautifully) with my Canon G5X carry around camera, and also a nice carry around flash to use with my larger 70D. What I love about it is the tiny size and flexibility.
I use this Speedlite 270EX II on my Canon 5d mark4 primarily as a fill flash indoors and out. With the right camera settings the flash works with out error. I use it in high speed shutter mode quite a bit outside in day time and at dusk.
Bought the 270 EXII for our Canon G15. Results have exceeded expectations.
