The Epson WorkForce ET-4550 EcoTank All-in-One Printer costs a lot for a personal multifunction printer (MFP), but it comes with all the ink most users will ever need.
Bottles of ink and large ink tanks dramatically lower the cost of printing. Ships with enough ink to print 11,000 monochrome pages or 8,500 color pages. Prints, faxes, scans, and copies. Automatic document feeder. Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct.
Paper capacity is suitable for personal or light-duty shared use only.
If you're closer to the 300 to 400 pages per month range, though, this $500 supertanker just may be the best bargain out there over the long haul.
Unheard-of low costs per page with EcoTank, High-quality output, Good scans and copies, Auto-duplexing print engine
A bit pricey, No auto-duplexing ADF, No flash memory card support
It’s Sunday night. You’re halfway through a 10-page presentation that’s due first thing Monday and you get the dreaded “out of ink” message. And no, you don’t have a backup cartridge. That all-too-familiar scenario is about to change.
The inkjet printer model is one that most people understand quite well by now. The common analogy is to razor blades, where you pay only a little for the razor head but quite a lot for the razor blades.
Excellent economy for heavy ink users, Good quality output
Slow print speeds, Topping up ink tanks is a messy process
EcoTank sounds like a leading brand of compost bins, but it's actually Epson's range of printers that use refillable ink tanks, rather than cartridges. We love the concept, but the basic EcoTank L555 we reviewed last year just wasn't a good enough MFP.
We've awarded the ET-4550 an Editor's Choice based on our assessment of its capabilities and performance as a general-purpose home and small office printer that could be called upon at times to produce photo prints.
The Epson Workforce ET-4550 is an injket printer that comes with no inkjet cartridges at all. No, really. None at all, because it doesn’t use them. Epson’s latest foray into inkjets uses ink tanks and bottles rather than cartridges, you see.
If your main concern is keeping costs down, the ET-4550 might be the ideal printer for you. But if you have any other needs, you're better off looking elsewhere.
It appears to be a very good printer. The only problem is when printing out sheets of labels. Labels may come off the sheets and get stuck to the inside of the printer, causing paper jams. One must remain diligent in making sure that no labels are left behind in the printer.
I print a lot with my small business and wanted to upgrade to the workforce ET4550 to save on ink.For the hefty price tag of $449.00 plus tax I am quite disappointed. The first thing I noticed right out of the box is how they have cut corners on the screen size , downgraded to a small window black...
I've read reviews where they complained about setting the printer up on their network, but I had no such problem. You just can't beat this printer when considering that you'll NEVER have to purchase a printer cartridge again.
The printer functions okay.+ Print quality is good when the print heads are clean.+ colors look nice and it comes close to photo quality.+ easy set up and in ink fill+ Epson staff was helpful in resolving print quality/print head cleaning issue-- Sometimes there is a LONG PRINT DELAY between...
I was drawn to this printer because I was tired of replacing toner cartridges and ink jet cartridges. Cartridges are environmentally nasty, expensive, and no longer necessary!
Really like the printer, but it requires me to re-input the WiFi password every single time I want to print. It is a long alpha-numeric password and takes ages to type in. Please store the password long term or let us input it on the computer platform instead of doing the old fashioned Nokia type...
Best printer I have ever owned, hands down. Easy set up. Great wireless. Great copying.
The print head alignment is a constant nuisance. Even after multiple print head adjustments I still get streaks and gaps. I would not use it to print photographs. The user interface is also very limited - many sub-menus. It's fine if you're printing letters.
I purchased this for my home, and must say, that it was easy to set up, with no mess. The ink levels are hardly dropping, despite my best efforts to test it! Print quality is very good. The only thing I would say, is that the printers own small screen, could do with enlarging.
I'M VERY SATISFIED
