The Garmin VIRB marks the company’s entry into the action camera market, putting them in a head to head competition with GoPro.
This camera has excellent video and paired easily with my heart monitor and cadence ANT devices. They could have made one enhancement though, showing heart monitor readings with bike speed and cadence readings on monitor together while biking.
Neat camera with some great features for adventure recording. Battery life is OK - but it makes up for it by tracking GPS location, speed, elevation, and can plot it all on your final video. App for the iPhone works decent and helps you set up some great shots!
Video quality is better than a Hero 3, and I like the Metrix overlays you can get. But the Wifi interface is horrible, and available mounting options are pretty non-existent compared to the competition.
Very impressive. Especially the ability to overlay the GPS and Sensor data on the final output through Virb Edit. Video is crisp and clean, low light performance very good, ease of use - intuitive, functionality - excellent, mounting - easy and secure. Enjoying it so far.
Great things come in small packages! I am still learning the features of this - but I love it. The VIRB Edit software is simple to use and overlaying the GPS data on your videos ROCKS!
Absolute rubbish. Stops filming after just a few minutes and can't be fixed. I also had a Garmin satnav that also had to be returned! Beware - Garmin is a rubbish brand!
Ordered twice, both showed up with bad battery packs. I returned and bought a GoPro
Video quality is fair, GoPro is better. The very tactile stop/record slide switch is superior to just about anything else in terms of simplicity and being assured the camera is recording. Design flaws: The unit switches on when the charging cable is inserted.
I wish it worked more consistently. Sometime the gps data doesn't record.
Not so good as i need it. Crash alot when wifi is on. Battery die very fast with gps on .
