The GoPro Hero5 Session brings top-notch features to an already great design.

The GoPro Hero5 Session is a big improvement in video and photo quality from the original Hero Session. Additions like voice control, electronic video stabilization and USB-C help justify the $100 price difference.

You'll have to connect to a phone or tablet to see what you're shooting. The built-in battery means that once the battery is drained, you'll have to stop to charge or connect to a power source to keep recording.
GoPro is the first—if not only—name most people think of when it comes to action cameras. It's not just because the company conquered the market early, but also because its cameras have remained the best and most widely used for a long while.
With the Hero5 Session, GoPro adds 4K video recording to an impressively tiny midrange action camera.

Records 4K footage., Excellent video quality for the size., Waterproof without a case.

No viewfinder., Awkward controls., No external mic support without an adapter.
A tiny action camera with excellent image quality, though battery concerns lose it points Buy if, Long battery life isn’t a concern and you want a quality lightweight race camera

Very good image quality, low weight, tiny size, simple usability

-
Poor cold-weather performance, unrefined image stabilisation
The GoPro HERO5 Session is odd. In fact, it looks boring. One lens, two buttons, and 1” cubical dimensions. It’s not exactly your textbook recipe for 4K video, but this little sucker is a hell of a camera. Yes, better action cams exist, but for the size, it’s a workhorse.

Up to 4K at 30fps, Image stabilization, Water resistant to 10ATM, Voice commands, Good battery life

No display for previewing/reviewing media, Does not float
The GoPro Hero 5 Session has 4K recording, impressive battery life and is waterproof; we love it, and it's currently on offer
Really awesome stabilizer, especially if you bought it as a part of the Karma drone.

Great stabilization, Easy to use, Very good battery life

Expensive, Covers up most of the LCD screen on HERO5 Black, Not compatible with all GoPros
The super-portable GoPro Hero 5 Session isn’t quite the Hero 5 Black all-rounder, but is still a touch above the rest

Video recording at max 4K resolution, Wind noise reduction, Discreet

Lacklustre still image quality
The Hero 5 Session sees the return of the cubic form factor that GoPro debuted with last year’s Hero Session (originally launched as the Hero 4 Session). But where the Hero Session initially struggled to find its footing, launching at the same price as the better-performing Hero 4 Silver (£330),...

Great image quality, Sensitive dual microphones, Small size opens up mounting options, Easy operation

Non-removable battery, No WDR or RAW support for still images, No GPS
Video quality is second to none, 10MP still imagery will be good enough for most, and the tiny package makes it the perfect companion on your travels. The lack of a replaceable battery is a downer, as is the slightly confusing one-button interface, but the beautifully crisp 4K footage easily makes...

Diminutive package is fiddly, Controls are challenging, Poor battery life
This is actually the second one of these that I have purchased. Picture quality is unreal. To record is super easy too. Set the camera up and all you do is hit the record button and off you go. We are mounting both cameras on a dragster. Couldn't be happier
I really love the crisp 1440@60fps quality that little camera delivers. Topping that with a 10ft water-resistance with no extra case - that is a must for snorkeling & scuba diving. Highly recommended! Tip: Make sure you run the software update for the camera to have the latest updates (e.g.
Video Quality is great, very happy with the high bit rate and the results achieved with using the pro-tune flat string a grading in post. However the battery has been a problem - very finicky, not always holding a charge or charging correctly. Very frustrating.
This unit seems solidly built and the reputation is what guided me. Going to pace it out on a ski trip, so excited it's here.
Bought the Hero 5 Session for an off-road motorcycle helmet mount. Camera is super easy to use and takes amazing video. No 4K image stabilization so Ive only used 2.7K and 1080p which both look super clear and very smooth.
There is not that much difference between Session 4 & Session 5, except for the added option of electronic stabilization, which eliminates the need for a gimbal stabilizer. Yes, I know that it crops the edges, but this lens is a wide angle to start with. I bought it and I am very pleased that I did.
The camcorder is awesome. Compact and gave me a great wide angle view of my childs first goal. The battery is pretty bad. I think we got an hour out of it, but I was able to recharge w a portable charger.
Good little tripod and easy extension for quick use but a little unstable in the wind, and the little legs aren't Suited to uneven ground, but is great for handheld as it does feel good in the hand,
This was gift for my grandson. He says he likes it a lot.
The tiny form factor is amazing. I mount it to my MTB helmet, below the visor, so its super compact. Navigating the menues on the camera itself, takes a bit of practice. But theres really no need to, since its actually very easy to adjust all of the parameters from the phone app.
