I've always used WD external hard drives, but heard good things about LaCie so I thought I'd give it a try. The cable for the LaCie has never had a tight fit. I barely bump it and it disconnects, which is a huge pain when transferring large files.
I have this drive and a 2T drive and both are great! The 2 T is lighter for travel but both are strong and hearty. I have no hesitation in recommending this product.
So far in 8 weeks no problems, easy to use and setup!
The USB c chord ejects from computer with even the tiniest draft of wind in the house it is so finnicky. Many times I have been editing in Final Cut and the ejection of the hardrive shuts down everything, so it is dangerous, buy at your peril, I should prob give to 2 stars but I feel bad the chord...
In an Adobe Creative Cloud webinar, it was recommended to back up important digital content to three different drives, Following that advice, I asked Ben Robinson for recommendations and he was enthusiastic about this one. It has a removable bumper for minimizing transport knocks.
I use this as a travel drive for editing video. It's very solid, fast and has an excellent build quality. All my other older USB2 drives are sitting in at the bottom of my drawer now.

Very well built, durable, good transfer speeds with USB 3.0.

A choice of colors would be nice.
I haven't had the chance to make much use of the product yet. I simply transferred some large graphic files to get them off of my computer hard drive. I like the small size of the mini even though it stores 1 T of data.
The USB cord keeps coming out of the drive. Very annoying, constantly having to reconnect it. All I have to do is breathe hard and it pops out of the drive. Otherwise it seems to be fine. LaCie is my preferred back up drive, tho this is my first mini. Definitely my last mini.
The USB cable is so short that you can’t turn the drive around to see if anything is happening. I like to see that little flashing light so I know it’s connected and working. I would really like to see the indicator light on the opposite end to eliminate having the cable wrapped around the drive...
I love this Lacie mni hard drive. It's small, but has a lot off storage for what I do, which is DJing.
