The Ideapad Y900-17 is a gaming laptop that plays demanding games at high settings, offers an array of features, and has an attractive display. Too bad it doesn't use more current graphics technology.

  • +

Fast performance suited to demanding gaming. Mechanical keyboard with satisfying tactile feel. Sharp IPS display. Plenty of storage and ports, including USB-C.

  • -

Expensive given its last-generation graphics hardware. Large and heavy.

One word sums up the Lenovo Y900: competent. It is a solid, mid-sized, mid-priced gaming system that does many things right. It’s handsome, it’s easy to upgrade, it’s quick, and it’s not too expensive.

  • +

Attractive, if simple, design, Easy to upgrade, Clever chassis enhancements, Great gaming performance, Quiet, even at full load

  • -

Perhaps too simple, Small solid state drive, Included peripherals are too basic

The higher-end Y900 feels unique with more features and better craftsmanship than its immediately Y700 predecessor. Unfortunately, its chiclet mechanical keyboard, loud pulsating fans, and high starting price leave a lot to be desired.

  • +

relatively low surface and core temperatures, large keys with dedicated Macro keys, RAID 0 compatibility; 3x storage bays, unique design; strong build quality, wide keyboard backlight options, USB Type-C w/ Thunderbolt 3, very loud internal speakers, removable mechanical keys, no CPU or GPU...

  • -

disappointing Turbo Mode; high CPU temperature under extreme loads, keyboard does not offer "true" individually-lit RGB keys, loud pulsating fan behavior during low loads, sound reproduction could be more balanced, no 120 Hz/5 ms or 4K UHD display options, loud fan noise when gaming, no custom fan...

Hitting the sweet spot for price and performance in a VR-ready PC, the Lenovo Ideacentre Y900 is a safe mainstream choice to pair with your HTC Vive or Oculus Rift headset.

  • +

The Lenovo Y900 includes the right processor/graphics card combo for virtual reality, offers easy access to its spacious interior and includes a premium keyboard and mouse.

  • -

The huge tower case is bland, with just enough gamer-centric touches to not blend in. No options for high-end features like liquid cooling.

From a pure price-to-performance perspective, you’d make out better by going with the standard Ideacentre Y900, and buying your own peripherals. However, the Ideacentre Y900 RE is a very complete package, to the point where all it needs is a monitor to deliver an excellent high-end gaming...

4K-worthy gaming performance, Includes excellent Razer gaming keyboard and mouse, User-upgrade friendly, Quiet cooling fans

  • -

Razer Chroma case lighting looks great, but is a bit subtler than hoped, Single-channel RAM, as tested, Only sold in one configuration, at this writing, Expensive for what’s included

It turns out that pairing and leads to some very slick, surprisingly colorful systems. More importantly, Lenovo have put together two gaming computers that will serve gamers well.

Going back to my PC after using this powerhouse is going to make me sad, I can call that right now. This is a well-built, fast, and powerful PC that should perform admirably for years to come. And as soon as anything starts to feel slow, you can easily replace it with new hardware.

  • +

I've said it a few times, but this is a beast of a PC. It will run anything you can throw at it. The Razer keyboard/mouse are great inclusions.

  • -

Some may not want to spend $2500USD on a PC, but you're getting high-end hardware, and that doesn't usually come cheap.

The Y900 Razer Edition is pricey, but it comes with everything you need to have a premium PC gaming experience. Its included Razer mouse and keyboard are an excellent value, and look fantastic when lighting up in unison with the PC.

  • +

Great lighting effects, Included Razer accessories, Excellent gaming performance, Easy upgradability

  • -

    Pricey, Bulkier than competitors

While many of us out there want to build our own PCs there are quite a lot of people who don't want

  • +

    – Quite powerful, – Easy to upgrade, – Razer style and Razer Synapse control, – Razer keyboard and mouse included

  • -

    – A little pricey

There have been a lot of researches recently that have stated that the end of traditional desktop PC is at an end. While it is true that desktop PC sales have gone down a lot over the past few years, sales for high-end enthusiast PCs are also seeing quite a bit of traction.

This computer was a good deal initially, but now I wish I went ahead and built my own custom computer instead. My build would have cost double the price but at least it would have all the latest quality parts I wanted.

I bought this computer because I didn't have time to build one, and I just got it in today. When I tried to plug in my two monitors it only supported one. I called Lenovo support about this problem and all they told me was excuse after excuse that I have to call a third party technician to help me.

I just got the Lenovo Y900 Ideacentre desktop computer yesterday from the company website since there was a spring sale and my old computer crapped out. After rounds of research, I was ready to build my own $3k desktop, but after running into reviews on Youtube about best desktops for 2016 and 2017,...

I've had this machine for 6 months and it is epic. Extermely fast, great for work and entertainment. Runs Forza Horizon 3 at 3K res with ultra settings across the board at 60fps no problem. Very easy to upgrade as well. No hiccups whatsoever.
