This flash is powerful, quick recycling, very versatile (pTTl, manual, slave, wireless remote, etc). I especially like the manual settings to 1/128 in 1/3 stop intervals - very useful for macro.
The previous reviewer was talking about the flimsiness of his unit, I'm not even sure we're talking about the same flash model. My Metz 52 AF-1 is rock-solid. The parts fit with precise tolerance. (Update: The red/ transluscent plastic on the front has some play.
good power output, well-built, full featured, touchscreen
overexposure on bounce with Pentax K-S2
I bought the Metz because I have used them in the past . I shot a Wedding last Sat. I shot about 270 pictures. It did fine. No problems. I will be using it this week. Using it every night at my Church. Hope it does OK.I would recommend this Flash.
I purchased this because I was dissatisfied with the Olympus 600 which I found under powered especially with bounce or diffusers. This unit works perfectly with my Olympus EM5ii. The touch display on the unit really works well and makes settings easy.
One of the pins on the foot of the flash got bent on my flash. Just one. Flash is otherwise fully functional. I called Manfrotto to ask for repair costs and guess what, to replace the foot, they need to replace the ENTIRE casing and the cost for doing this is $200.
I have used Metz flashes for about 35 years with no problems. All the sudden I bought this flash and it doesn't work properly any more. When I flip the head for a bounce, it overexposes terribly. I thought what the heck, I'll get it fixed. The only trouble is Metz has no service centers.
While I have only used this for one family gathering, I am pleased with the results.
Works well on my olympus em5 for indoors flash photography. I have only used it a few times, but the results have been mostly good. I have much to learn about hot shoe flash useage, but using ttl flash with manual exposure mode on camera works well.
Works great in manual or TTL mode. Much cheaper than the Leica flash.
Easy to use settings interface
