The Metz 52 AF-1 is the first flash ever released to feature a touchscreen instead of the standard buttons. So far, no other manufacturer has followed suit, but Metz seem to believe in their product, since they recently announced the 64 AF-1, an upgrade to their 58 AF-2 flash featuring a larger,...

Head doesn’t move below 0°, No auto-thyristor, User interface could easily be made more functional, is not faster than buttons (but more complete)
Admittedly, there was some apprehension about buying this unit. Price versus performance was a concern, whereas high price does not always guarantee great performance. I was very surprised with the 52 AF-1. flash unit.
The previous reviewer was talking about the flimsiness of his unit, I'm not even sure we're talking about the same flash model. My Metz 52 AF-1 is rock-solid. The parts fit with precise tolerance. (Update: The red/ transluscent plastic on the front has some play.

overexposure on bounce with Pentax K-S2
I bought the Metz because I have used them in the past . I shot a Wedding last Sat. I shot about 270 pictures. It did fine. No problems. I will be using it this week. Using it every night at my Church. Hope it does OK.I would recommend this Flash.
what a fantastic flash. Great price great coverage.
Easy to use and plenty of power. Tilt head tilts too easily - unintentional movement is a nuisance. Works very well with Olympus OM-D ttl. Rear touch screen is very easy to use. Unit is large and heavy, but manageable especially since I often use it off camera.

I purchased this because I was dissatisfied with the Olympus 600 which I found under powered especially with bounce or diffusers. This unit works perfectly with my Olympus EM5ii. The touch display on the unit really works well and makes settings easy.

One of the pins on the foot of the flash got bent on my flash. Just one. Flash is otherwise fully functional. I called Manfrotto to ask for repair costs and guess what, to replace the foot, they need to replace the ENTIRE casing and the cost for doing this is $200.
