Olympus didn't add much to the Tough TG-4 camera aside from Raw shooting support, but it's as fine a rugged compact as its predecessor.

Wide aperture f/2 lens. Waterproof to 50 feet. Protected against freezing, dust, drops, and crushing. Speedy autofocus. Microscope macro mode. 5fps burst capture. Raw shooting support. Works with conversion lenses and macro light accessories. Built-in GPS and Wi-Fi.

JPG output could be better. Short zoom range. Noisy lens overwhelms video soundtrack. Some shakiness to video footage. Doesn't include external battery charger.
The Olympus Stylus TG-4 is a fantastic camera for the adventurous types, as well as any household with a pool or children. Its image quality is not what you would find on standard digicams in this price range, buts its other features are what make it worth the extra money.
-
+
iAuto shooting mode is accurate and easy in all situations, Dedicated Video Capture Button is always ready to record, Outstanding macro shooting mode with LED light, "Tough" features: Waterproof, Dustproof, Shockproof, Crushproof and Freezeproof protect the camera all the time, Mega O.I.S.

Low ISO images were blotchy, not as sharp as we hoped, Some noise in all images / which is typical with most smaller 16-megapixel image sensors, Screen can be hard to see underwater, Weak built-in flash
It's easy to see why the Olympus TOUGH range is so popular. Few other rugged water-proof compacts provide such a wide range of features. There are models with longer zoom ranges and others that will allow you dive deeper, but the TG4 allows you more control and a wider choice of options, whether...
The Olympus Tough TG-4 takes what made its predecessor a winner, including its build quality, fast lens (at wide-angle) and performance, and adds support for Raw shooting. By using Raw photographers can squeeze the very best image quality out of the TG-4, which makes it stand out from its JPEG-only...
The Olympus Tough TG-4 adds RAW image capture and multiple fun shooting modes, helping it leap to the front of the pack of rugged compact cameras. Imaging performance is solid for its class, but where this camera separates itself is through its fun-to-use shooting features and versatility.
-
+
Rugged and waterproof camera body; RAW image capture; fast f/2.0 maximum aperture; fun shooting modes; fast AF speeds for its class.
-
-
Heavy noise reduction, even at base ISO; no continuous RAW image capture; underwhelming video performance.
While the TG-4 uses a nonstandard USB port, its wide range of modes, top-tier image quality and superior ease of use make its minor oddities easy to overlook. Both above and below the surface, if you want a rugged sharp shooter, the $330 TG-4 is the camera to get.
-
+
Impressive image quality, Rugged, easy-to-use design, Lots of features, RAW support
-
-
Not as water-resistant as other cameras, No micro-USB port, Easy to obstruct the lens
Although the basic specs are similar to a point and shoot compact and the camera can be used as such in everyday life, in terms of whether it represents value for money the Olympus TG-4 is probably best when viewed as a specific tool for a specific task.
The Olympus Stylus Tough TG-4 is the fourth update in the line of premium tough cameras from Olympus, replacing the TG-3 , and features a bright f/2.0 lens, aperture control, raw support, and full HD video recording.
-
+
Good colour reproduction, 2 year warranty, Bright f/2.0 lens, Good battery life (380 shots), In-camera focus stacking / bracketing, Wi-Fi and GPS built in, Live composite mode, Lots of accessories available, Fast focus and response

Panoramic mode could be better, Soft images at telephoto end of lens, Non standard charging cable (Olympus specific), Video quality could be better
Olympus' Stylus Tough TG-4 is a rugged camera that will be released in May for a price of $499. In addition to providing the necessary tough features that will suit adventurous users and underwater shooters, the new camera has a more keen focus on image quality than previous rugged models.
This is the best underwater camera I have had yet, had 3 prior makes and making shooting changes underwater was very difficult with other models. Olympus's menus and mode dial features make it easy to adjust.
I had two Tough camera, first it was a TG-1, then I upgraded to TG-4. I have hesitated to write a review but after two disappointing experiences, I decided. 1. TG-1 after about 1 and a half year of using I started to see a shadow in the last left corner of all the photos and films.
A great tough camera with amazing features. Drop it, get it wet, dusty conditions---no worries. Fits in your pocket. Fast lens. Wi-fi -- control the camera with your smart phone and transfer images to your phone. RAW capture too. Best tough camera around.
