This 3x zoom lens for Micro Four Thirds system cameras, provides a field of view equivalent to a 24-70mm lens on a 35mm camera. It also sports optical image stabilisation, a silent focusing motor and a lightweight, compact design.
A great performer, but it doesn't exactly feel like a thousand bucks.
In its build quality and pricing, the Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm f/2.8 ASPH slots comfortably into the 'prestige' category. It's also the fastest standard zoom lens available for the M4/3 format.
Although we deal here with a lens which costs more than 4000 PLN our cons list includes actually several positions. How big is their influence on the overall rating? To tell you the truth just slight.

small, solid and compact casing,, excellent image quality in the frame centre,, very good image quality on the edge of the frame,, well corrected chromatic aberration,, moderate coma,, splendid, quick and silent autofocus,, efficient image stabilization.

high vignetting,, huge distortion at the wide angle of view,, weak performance against bright light.
I reckon that there'll be MFT users out there who will argue once more that we at Photozone "hate MFT" (apply variations at will) but the truth is that two of the three team members (and that's me included) are using the system for our private photography and we are doing so because we think it's...
With the advent of more professionally orientated Micro Four Thirds camera bodies, it makes sense that Panasonic would want to release a weather-sealed professional spec f/2.8 zoom. The price at around £999, is typical of these kinds of lenses.

Although the high price is typical of pro spec f/2.8 zooms, it may put this lens beyond the reach of many
Of all the micro four thirds lenses Ive purchased, this 12-35 f2.8 has become one of my favorites and is certainly the most versatile lens I own. With the equivalent focal length coverage of a 24-70mm lens on a full-frame 35mm body, the field of view spans the range needed for wide-angle landscapes...

Very nice and sharp lens. Rather light weight. Works great with OMD-EM1! Since a newer model came out, this lens is more affordablely priced.
My go to lens for the GH5
Great lens. Very versatile. Fast.
I looked at both version 1 and version 2 of this lens and with a $300.00 difference I decided to go with the older Version 1. I love this lens. It does everything I want it to do. It works great on my Ronin-M.
I love this lens for its size, zoom range, and sharpness. The fast aperture is great too. It is heavier than the Panasonic 12-60 mm f3.5-5.6 and isn't as long in the zoom range, but I think it is worth it on the whole. Very solid feel to the lens on my Panasonic G85.
I have no doubt that this is a good lens, it's just not the lens for me. I'm a wedding videographer.I come from using a full frame Canon with the 24-105 4L lens. I loved that camera+lens image through the whole gamut so I thought the 12-35 would be comparable. It's not.
An amazing lens that can handle everything you need for the most part. And it's fast as well.
