Sony’s MDR 7520 is something of an “anti-Beats” headphone that fashionistas will shun, but its real strength is its neutrality.

No-frills design, Not as open sounding as open-back headphones
Sitting pretty at the top of Sony’s critical listening range of studio headphones, the MDR-7520 offers an appealing combination of comfort, wideband reproduction and excellent acoustic isolation, as well as being lightweight enough for extended wearing.
As a looong time Sony headphone user for location film sound and studio voiceover, I have used the 7506, the 7509, and splurged on these 7520. The sound is accurate, full, and terrific. Best I have ever owned. BUT..
Pristine professional analytical sound. Clarity is relentless. The overall tonality reminds me of Apogee converters. Sub bass and low bass is abundant, yet the low mids are relaxed which allows for a nice separation of frequencies...
Great sounding headphone. Easy to use without an amp. Read many positive reviews about this headphone. And I fully agree !
I love these headphones, they barely leak and are surprizingly comparable to the HD 600 that are priced similarly but are less versatile. I havent had any problem wearing these all day either, they're built much better than the older 7506 and v6's with, obviously justifying the price point far nicer...
Solid well ballanced sound having extended but true bass response. Very comfortable to wear, some say a little boxy in sound but whats expected of a closed back pair of headphones. Very robust. Highly recomended.
For standard monitoring without an EQ, these headphones are not flat even after "burning" them in. They have too much presence (2khz to 8khz) and brightness (9khz to 12khz) in varying degrees. I was hoping to be able to use these headphones on all devices without the need for an EQ.
I personally use this product for monitoring my guitars while recording in my home studio. The main reason I purchased this was because a few of my friends who do a lot of studio work use them and swear by the for being some of the most neutral sounding over-ear headphones they have ever used.
I use this product for home studio recording and mix downs, since I live in an apartment I rarely play music on speakers, so I needed headphones that reproduced a wide range of frequencies from lows to highs & these headphones gave me a better range than some of the lower priced headphones I have,...
I love these new Headphones and almost always buy Sony for my video/sound needs. This unit replaced my personal Sony headphones that I bought in the 80's. They were still working but I wanted to upgrade after all these years. I have all kinds of Sony products and have never been disappointed.
OHHH MYY GODDDD these cans are AMAZING!!! I've heard many studio headphones but none have come close to these. I bought a pair of Audio Technica M70x, heard them and took them back, somewhat dissappointed because i wanted to hear more low end frequencies.
