  The WD Backup software can't backup the entire system as an image and won't backup based on changes in real time. The new drive's performance, though quite fast, was a bit slower than the previous version.

I will see about long term life as we go, I could see a problem if any thing were to fail on this drive there would mostly likely be no way to save the data off of it. Even if you could figure out how to get to the raw hard drive inside the case, you would not be able to access what was on it if the...

  Drive looks great, it is easy to carry and as tons of room, other 3 tb drives are huge compared to it.

  Speed of this drive this about 850 mb/s on both my Dell s one being laptop with existing ports and the other being a desktop with a add on broad. It is faster then any of my older usb 2.0 drives (300 mb/s max) copying the same files back and fourth. So I am still happy.

I had previous experience with using a My Passport through my work so I decided to try one for at home. The price was fantastic - on sale! It was very easy to set up and I found it came with automatic back up software so now I don't have to worry about how often I remember to back up my files!

The device is great, especially for the money. The only hiccup is having to reformat it for use with Mac. But that procedure takes less than a couple of minutes. The color is great and helps me to distinguish the drive from all the other silver ones I have in storage.

I would tell anyone that this would be your best bet for backing up important files. Works seamlessly onto any laptop, PC

  Fast. Reliable. Compact. I have 8 WD passport Ultras and never on problem. I have a couple of Seagate desktop 5TB drives which are ok, but these little gems are superior IMHO.

This is a very nice hard drive and portable for connecting to other computers. I use it to backup other PC's and collect data. I tested this unit using Western Digital software and it passed all tests. I also checked it to see if it has the latest firmware installed... it has it.

I bought the WD 2tb ext hard drive so that I could back up my friends computer. It works great. With no need of an external power supply or other cables or accessories, it is small in size and weight and big on capacity. Very useful and handy. small with just one cable to connect.

Love this 3 TB drive. as small as a wallet and very portable. Great for keeping large files or what ever you want afterall 3TB is bigger than many desktops.

These are nice USB drives, and the 2TB is a solid addition to the line. Have had no problems. You need to reformat (or load driver) if using on a Mac due to the default NTFS.
