I have had 2 smaller Yamaha mixers for rehearsals but needed a slightly bigger one for gigs -- to go with powered speakers. This unit is lightweight and FULL of features. The digital effects are top-notch -- some of the very best. It is quiet, intuitive and easy to use.
Great Mixing Board at an acceptable price. It has all the expected features and worked the first time out of the box.
Only a singe special effect is useable at one time. This is no different than other mixing boards in the same category.Although this is a 4-bus mixer, they are ganged together in groups of 2 (1-2, 3-4) for purposes of controlling.
I bought this mixer for my community band, which had been using a 6-channel powered mixer for our PA system. We needed more mic inputs for our concerts, and this provided the right number and quality of mic inputs.
I love the mixer. Sound is great, and the recording feature is bonus. For anyone buying this to record tracks, buy an audio interface instead. This is a mixer best intended for live performance.
Awesome board, however the USB feature is entirely useless. It only outputs in stereo over USB, so bringing a laptop or class-compliant USB device to record is overkill. It's the equivalent of getting a "board mix" rather than a multitrack session that could be later mixed. Oh well.
I use Yamaha mixers and have used them since around 2000. This is my 4th mixer from Yamaha and is exactly what I needed and expect from Yamaha. It is very simple to use and handles what I need it to do. I do not need a lot of the extras that you can get from Yamaha and other mixers.
The product is first rate !!! As a singer/songwriter, I will be keeping myself very busy for quite some time with this investment ! Yes I wanted a mixer, but this mixer also came with a very good software download, Cubase 8, a virtual recording studio !!!
The preamps and compressors on this board sound fantastic. The phantom power is always a nice addition. The faders are all smooth and the knobs have no kinks. The channel grouping buttons are a nice addition but something to get used to.
