Being a guitarist for the better part of my life I’ve learned a few things about sound and the devices that produce it. Sometimes, a complex circuit can provide an amazing sound — like my Fryette CLX Tube head.
Love it - the extra power it has compared to the RS 500 mattered to me because of the space I use it for. Nice rich deep natural sound on all components. I got the power so that even at lower loudness and volume, I get the sound of a more powerful signal for the space.

Nice rich deep sound for all musical lovers of all music genres, from Ravel to Coltrane to Hendrix.

The leap in price from the RS 500 to 700 is unfortunate - but it is worth consideration if you need nice sound for a high ceiling mid size to large living room, otherwise the RS 500 will do fine. I owned or own both.
I recently acquired Bose 901 speakers and only a handful of receivers can accommodate them in a reasonable price range. Yamaha makes a fine product as this is my second Yamaha receiver over a span of 30 years.

Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality
I bought this receiver to replace an aging Yamaha R-750 that was just shy of 25 years old. The R-750 replaced an older Yamaha receiver that was about ten years old when it was stolen in a break-in.
I continue to use conventional stereo equipment, and needed to replace my old receiver. But because I use Bose 901 speakers requiring insertion of an active equalizer between the pre- and power- amplifiers, there are few receivers now available which provide that capability.
Love it . Feels like a high end receiver for the price well worth the investment .

Everything about it . Got it for just my vinyls and CD player . Everything I wanted in a 2channel . Simple and efficient .

None really . Maybe wish the knobs were metal or aluminum like the rest of the receiver .
Much like buying a vintage receiver with a full factory warranty. I did not wish to spend a lot of money but I wanted a quality product. Also, I did not want another AV receiver with features I really did not want nor would probably never use. I use the unit to listen to music not for movies.
