The latest Astro Gaming A50 wireless gaming headset feels and sounds excellent, but it's a pricey option in an increasingly competitive field.

  • +

Terrific sound quality., Very comfortable., Thin, convenient charging cradle.

  • -

Expensive., Bundle/cradle only works with PlayStation 4 or Xbox One., No wired option for mobile devices., Microphone isn't the clearest for the price.

The fourth generation of the gaming headset A50 from Logitech subsidiary Astro aims to impress with meaningful innovations. However, the manufacturer still offers two different versions – for Playstation or Xbox.

The Astro A50 Wireless 2017 are very good wireless gaming headphones. They sound well-balanced, have a good microphone that can separate your voice from ambient noise, and they're very comfortable to wear for numerous hours.

The Astro A50 Wireless offers the bells and whistles you'd expect of a premium gaming headset, but it flubs basics like mic and build quality. For $300, you should get something a little more durable.

  • +

    Comfortable, Good sound, Battery life

  • -

Mic quality, Build quality, Sleep mode function can be good and bad, Expensive

The Astro Gaming A50 just doesn't tally up to a $300 (£300) gaming headset in my mind. When it comes to the best gaming headsets for PC, I recommend looking elsewhere.

The ASTRO A50 wireless + base station is probably the most convenient gaming audio solution on the market.

The Astro Gaming A50 Wireless has some great features, but it's too flimsy and too expensive....

In a world where gaming headsets are readily available, the people at Astro have made their name synonymous with quality. The Astro A40 headsets have been adopted by Major League Gaming, they’re all over events like PAX, and they can even be found in quite a few houses.

If you're already in the market for a gaming headset and are prepared for the price of a wireless unit, Astro should definitely be in your sights if sound quality and comfort are major factors for your purchase. "

A couple weeks ago I reviewed the Skullcandy PLYR 2 Wireless Gaming Headset. As an entry-level device, it was pretty good. Getting into the wireless headset arena, cutting your cords with your computer, and experiencing good sound for $129 is not a bad deal.

The sound and the quality is great. Downside it requires some tinkering right out the box. If you used equalizers before you should have no problem customizing frequencies to your liking. I love these a lot better than the Logitech Pro X headset that I upgraded from.

There’s a few interference issues if you don’t have your console and headset base placed separately in their own area. It sounds very staticky if they’re too close but other than that they are amazing. Very comfy and fit like I’m laying on a cloud.

All in all... the bad reviews I keep hearing about this headset are out the window for me. I'm glad I took a chance and bought these because hot d*mn are they fantastic. I love the sound quality and the comfort of them. They NEVER hurt your ears and optical SPDIF is the way to go with gaming sound.

Before I start I will tell you that I recommend you buy this headset. The flaws are small but the pros are large! SO!.... Pros! -Nearly everything. -The audio quality of optical SPDIF is fantastic and this thing is everything it says it is. -The 7.1 Surround is fantastic. -They're noise canceling.

There's only 2 things I don't like about this headset, 1 can be fixed, the other cannot. -The bigger of the two problems, and the one that can't be fixed, is the fact that you have a constant mic feed running through your headset.

The sound is great. When I first launched the headphones I had to make sure my TV volume was still off because I couldn’t even tell that those were the headphones. The binaural audio really doesn’t seem all too different from other headsets and it’s bluetooth range doesn’t seem to work from all too...

Honestly just plain disappointed with these headphones. Had them for about 2 months and are just garbage. Non-stop audio issues combined with static. The only reason i gave it a 3 star is due to the ease of changing audio from xbox to pc.

This headset is great for FPS gameplay as the omnidirectional sound queues are par none especially when using Dolby. The only downfall this headset has is the lack of Bluetooth causing you to not be able to connect a phone for calls and notifications while being immersed in gameplay.

I previously used a wired Corsair headset that worked fine. I only replaced it because it was 3 yrs old and falling apart at the earcups. After a few months of using this headset, I miss my old wired headset. It never gave me any problems and was light.

  • +

Wireless - You can walk into the kitchen while still listening to music or talking to friends on the call Looks Good - Looks futuristic Good Sound - Audio sounds great Flip mic up to mute - convenient when you want to mute the mic and talk to someone in the room.

  • -

No low battery indicator - The headset beeps when it has 5 min of battery left which leaves you scrambling for the cord if you're in the middle of a game. It does not have a battery indicator otherwise.

I've been using it for a bit now, and even some problems I had originally have somehow fixed themselves. A week into buying it I would have given it a 3/5, as the comfort, sound quality, and battery life were amazing then, but the headset disconnected or stuttered often, and the mic sucked, like, A...

This is the product that accomplishes the job you wanted your last wireless headphones to. The base station connects instantly every time, there’s no discernible lag, the battery lasts well long enough and charges quickly. It’s pricy, but it’s worth it.

I like em they are pretty good the only thing I don’t like is the microphone Arm doesn’t bend closer I always have to adjust the headset moving it back more just so I ain’t yelling so they can hear me
