There's no integrated microphone for making cell phone calls and the bulkier design makes them less suitable for mobile use.

The Audio Technica ATH-M50x is the latest revision of a legendary headphone, and with this iteration I feel their position in the pantheon of all-time great headphones is permanently secure.
When we last reviewed the M50 we were knocked out by its performance for just £120. Well, AT has monopolised the M50's lead in the shape of a brand new M50x, and added the M40x and M30x for those who need quality at an even keener price.
Fall in love all over again with Audio-Technica's award-winning headphones.
Great news! Audio- Technica has recently introduced its revamped line of studio-grade and very much professional over-ear headphones. One of them being a new mid-level flagship successor to one of the more well known and admired headphones in recent years - the ATH -M50 .
The Audio Technica ATH M50xBL is the latest model of the M50 line of headphones. You may ask the question what is the difference between the XBL edition of the headphones compared to the other M50x’s. The BL simply stands for blue.
I've been a long time fan of Audio Technica, I currently own 3 pair of these headphones. Since they've changed to a detachable cable (which is a great idea), it seems that the quality of the cables have taken a nose dive.

Headphone jack breaks easily
Great headphones for the money. These headphones are comfortable, sound good, and basically do everything I expect them to do at their price range. The only negative I can think of is that they get a little heavy on the head after a while, but you can't ask for perfection at this price.

Slightly on the heavy side.
Over 4 years of serious use over a wide range of music types, these headphones are the best I have ever owned and do not fail me when I require quality sound in order to fully appreciate high quality music. This is an incredible product and at a somewhat decent price.

After reading many reviews, the M50x was my choice over the normal M50 and its younger siblings. I am no audiophile but these headphones give a perfect amount of bass without being muddy or overwhelming.
These headphones are great and very comfortable than my previous headphones that i had. It does not hurt my ears an it is very portable and versatile and durable.

I purchased these headphones based on reviews, specifications, and looks and I am not disappointed in the least. The initial comfort for the headphones was good, but it took some adjusting to stop the headband from applying too much pressure on the top of my head (might be my head alone that has...

I was about to order the Beats Pro and had no doubt they were the best headphones I've had heard until. . . After researching online and watching several different reviews from different people, I was convinced to buy the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones.
I have spent a long time looking for a pair of headphones that I could use on the road for mixing and mastering tracks, as I'm an audio engineer who travels quite a bit and it's extremely inconvenient to only be able to work at home on monitors.
These are essentially the same unit as the original ATH-50 with interchangeable cables. I've owned the original 50s for several years and they're one of my favorite tracking/mixing/mastering headphones. Highly rated by consumers and pros alike and rightly so. I enjoy their smooth response.
