Quibbles aside, the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones are a modestly improved version of the already spectacular model they're based on, and among the best-sounding pairs you'll find for less than $200.

  • +

The Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Professional Studio Monitor Headphones offer excellent build quality and very detailed, balanced sound with tight bass. They're also very comfortable and have slightly more cushiony earcups along with a detachable-cord design (three cords are included).

  • -

There's no integrated microphone for making cell phone calls and the bulkier design makes them less suitable for mobile use.

You can easily see why these headphones are rated so highly. The sound, the looks, and the build quality all combine to make an awesome package. Oh, and they're under $200 dollars too.

  • +

Great looking, Great build quality, Excellent sound, Long cords provided

  • -

Cord is proprietary, Soundstage is lacking

This is my first review, so please bear with me, as well as the tremendous amount of errors that I'll make without revising this.Used with Schiit Modi 2 and Magni 2 and LG G2The M50x is a solid headphone for getting introduced into better quality audio.

  • +

Portability, price (on sale), consumer-friendly sound signature, low end, portability

  • -

Mids (for some), tinny treble, comfort, earpads may be too small for larger ears, a little lacking in clarity

Audio Technica ATH-M50x (MSRP $239, ~$169 street) "A Revolutionary New Technology!" certainly makes for a more captivating headline than "We Continue to Evolve Our Decade Old Classic", but the latter generally yields as good or better sounding headphones than the former, in my experience.

When we last reviewed the M50 we were knocked out by its performance for just £120. Well, AT has monopolised the M50's lead in the shape of a brand new M50x, and added the M40x and M30x for those who need quality at an even keener price.

Great news! Audio- Technica has recently introduced its revamped line of studio-grade and very much professional over-ear headphones. One of them being a new mid-level flagship successor to one of the more well known and admired headphones in recent years - the ATH -M50 .

The Audio Technica ATH M50xBL is the latest model of the M50 line of headphones. You may ask the question what is the difference between the XBL edition of the headphones compared to the other M50x’s. The BL simply stands for blue.

As a teen, I sold mid- to high-end audio equipment, and I have also worked as a professional musician and singer. The Audio Technica ATH M50X are infinitely superior, audiophile-quality, true "professional monitor headphones".

These Headphones sound great. A good value for the money. The bass is fantastic. I'm using them with a DAC and my computer. There is one issue, and Crutchfield is working on correcting it. The headphones come with three cords. Two of the cords have mini stereo plugs, one short and one long.

  • +

Good value for the money. Good sound, hefty bass.

  • -

A problem with one of the cords, but Crutchfield is sending a replacement.

When i first started looking at these headphones i was afraid that it would not live op to my bass loving music taste, there where absolutely no reason to be worried, these are great for dubstep and hardstyle.

  • +

Fantastic sound quality, It has a very good fit (On my head at least), It comes with 3 different cables and a bag

  • -

There's some sound leak, but not to bad. You will use them way to much and become deaf.

I've had the Audio Technica ATH-M50x for about a month now. I'd had two sets of Sennheisers, and a set of Koss prior to the ATs. All were great headphones that delivered years of great sound. All have easily outdone by the ATH-M50x in quality and range of sound!

Nothing bad to say about the headphones, but the "1-3 day expedited shipping" took 6 business days...... and I live in the same state. Don't guarantee it if you cant follow through!!

overall sound quality is really good. I have tested these with and without my fiio e11 amplifier for about two weeks now playing lots of base heavy tracks both on my xperia z and on my pc with an asus maximus vi gene motherboard (which supposed to have superior audio).
