I have used The Canon 250D and 500D Close-up lenses in the 77mm, 72mm and 58mm sizes with a number of lenses (Nikon & Fujinon mounts) and if you work with the limitations and parameters of this screw-on, somewhat heavy, filter-like attachment, and attach it to a very sharp lens, the results can be...
Unlike some other close-up lenses I've tried, this one really allows you to get near to your subject. Bought it after an online recommendation. Not a macro lens, but the next best thing.
I bought this lens to attach onto my 50mm f/1.8 lens to use for macro photos before I decide to spend money on a dedicated macro lens. I was really happy with the sharpness of the photos and how much of the frame I could fill with an object.
Use this close up lens on my Canon 60mm f/2.8 EF-S Macro. Works best with 50mm to 100mm lens range. You'll love the close up pictures you will get of flowers, bugs, small stationary items. Very fun close up lens to have.
The canon 250d is a great, affordable way to get into macro photography. It does it's job very well. I had a 500d for my telephoto lens, but upgraded lenses, and the 500d didn't fit the new lens. So bought this 250d to use with my Nikkor 35mm af-s lens.
Very effective, sturdy and well made lens with a very good depth of resolution. I have a Canon 80D and used it initially on my Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM lens. I have since ordered an adapter to use it on my EF 50mm f/1.8 STM (Nifty Fifty) lens.
This is an anachromatic doublet, much better quality than most closeup lenses, which are a single element. Using it on a Panasonic 45 - 150 zoom lens (micro 4/3) the FoV at 150mm and closest focusing is 24mm (long edge) and about 70mm at 45mm.
I wanted to try my hand at macro photography...love those bugs. The 250D lens works great, nice clear and crisp pictures.
The two elements wont do miracles. This is still a close up filter and will do what a filter do. If you need great quality, go for a macro. But if you don't want to spend your money to have some nice macro photos, then this is your product.
Lens works best to pull in light for close ups but it's really hard to tell the difference without it when using a Canon Powershot A80 for studio-like shots of jewelry.
