The Canon EOS R8 essentially takes the sensor of the higher-end R6 II and packs it into a simpler, lighter body more akin to the entry-level RP. As such it’s perfectly positioned between those two models, delivering the photo, video and autofocus of the R6 II at a much more affordable price.
The Canon R8 is great for travel photography. It's relatively lightweight and portable for a full-frame camera. Its sensor captures very high-quality images, and it has a very effective autofocus system.

Excellent image quality., Lightweight and fairly portable., Fantastic autofocus.
-
-
Poor battery life., Somewhat cheap-feeling build quality.
Our Canon EOS R8 review is still underway, but our first impressions are that this is a camera that could have a very wide appeal. Beginners and those using APS-C cameras will see it as an attractive jump into full-frame photography, with an attractive set of features.
The Canon EOS R8's combination of a full-frame sensor and fast autofocus system results in a compact mirrorless camera with much better than entry-level performance,

+
Class-leading autofocus system, 24MP full-frame sensor, E-shutter supports 40fps capture, Articulating touch LCD, Full-width 4K60 video with 10-bit color, Includes mic and headphone jacks
-
-
Omits focus joystick, Image sensor isn't stabilized, Runs hot at 4K60
The Canon EOS R8’s compact size and light weight make it very competitive in the enthusiast camera category, although the lack of adequate weatherproofing will be a disincentive to outdoor photographers.
In this day and age, new tech that costs less is always welcome, and what Canon has done with the EOS R8 is create a full-frame camera with serious power, in a low-cost simplified body.

+
