Right after Nikon launched the D600, Canon countered with the 20MP 6D. Is the EOS 6D the full-frame alternative we hoped it would be?
-
+
Excellent image quality, Great low light/high ISO capabilities, Full-frame shooting at an "affordable" price, Built-in WiFi and GPS, Good performance overall, Sophisticated feature set for the price
-
-
No built-in flash, Single SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot (vs. Nikon D600's dual card slot), Slightly soft images on default settings (depending on lens used)
With the 20.2-megapixel EOS 6D, Canon has created a smaller, lighter and less expensive full-frame digital SLR for prosumer photographers. In many ways, the well-designed 6D is a mini 5D Mark III for the rest of us.
-
+
Excellent image quality on par to more expensive full-frame DSLRs (including the 5D Mark III); Responsive all-around performer; Superior HD video-shooting chops; Built-in Wi-Fi with remote control and sharing features, Built-in GPS and geotagging.
-
-
Lacks a built-in, pop-up flash; No external headphone jack; Rather basic 11-point autofocus system; Mediocre burst speed., While it's more affordable than previous Canon full-frame cameras, some users might find the $2,000 price tag still to be too high, No pop-up flash, No built-in AF illuminator...
The Canon EOS 6D is a top-notch full-frame camera in a compact body. With a relatively affordable price, enthusiast-friendly features, and spectacular image quality, it's an easy Editors' Choice.
-
+
Compact. Inexpensive for its class. Full-frame sensor. 4.5fps shooting. Superb image quality at high ISOs. Interchangeable focus screens. Integrated GPS and Wi-Fi. 1080p30 video capture. Battery grip available. Supported USB tethered and Wi-Fi remote control.
-
-
Not the fastest camera on the block. Viewfinder only offers 97 percent coverage. Not compatible with EF-S lenses. GPS saps battery life. No flash. Slow focus during video recording. No PC Sync socket.
The photo quality you get from the EOS 6D makes it well worth the upgrade over a consumer APS-C model, but between this and comparable or higher-end models it's a less obvious choice.
-
+
The Canon EOS 6D delivers the photo and video quality you expect from a full-frame sensor, in a well-designed and relatively lightweight body.
-
-
While the camera has nice extra features, like Wi-Fi and GPS support, it's missing some basics for the price like on-camera flash, multiple card slots, and a 100 percent-coverage viewfinder.
The EOS 6D doesn't offer the depth of features that its best competitors can, but it combines very good image quality, impressive high-ISO performance and class-leading low-light autofocus ability (with the central AF point) as well as impressive built-in Wi-Fi and GPS features.
-
+
Excellent detail in raw file output across ISO range, Class-leading low light focus sensitivity (from central AF point), Very effective JPEG noise reduction at highest ISO sensitivities, Impressively quiet 'silent' shutter drive mode, Quick Control menu provides easy access to shooting settings,...
-
-
JPEG engine struggles with low-contrast fine detail at low ISO sensitivities, Low density 11 point autofocus array with only one cross-type AF point, Single card slot (SD), Slow burst rate compared to its full frame peers, Cannot configure common live view and movie mode options independently, Video...
In our opinion, Canon has hit the target he set for himself: to create a professional SLR accessible for cost and method of use to user’s enthusiasts. Of course, we are not at the levels of a Mark III and even a Mark II.
-
+
Contrast, Sharpness, Detail and excellent color, Focus on fast-3EV point center cross, DIGIC 5 processor, Wi-Fi and GPS, 1080p video at 30fps good quality.

Only 11 points of focus therefore not very suitable for sports photography, a single slot for memory cards.
The Canon EOS 6D is the smallest and lightest full frame sensor format Canon DSLR camera ever (as of review time). The image quality benefits of Canon's full frame CMOS sensors are big, while the footprint of the 6D remains small - as does the relative impact on your wallet.
The EOS 6D is a product that Canon seems to be aiming at “first time” full frame DSLR users. To keep the price down and differentiate it from the 5D MkIII they’ve made some conscious choices about what features to include and what features to leave off.
To be honest, I regret not being able to review the Canon 6D for almost two years since it was released. It is a wonderful camera with superb image quality and a good balance of features.
You guys know me..I love my small but high quality mirrorless cameras. The Sony’s, The Leica’s, The Fuji X100’s, the Olympus, The Panasonics, and even the Nikon 1 . I love them because they are small at a fraction of the size of a DSLR, a fraction of the weight and they offer sensors from Micro 4/3...
I am a long time Canon user ( t70- digital rebel / 7d) but I have used a lot of other equipment as well. I currently shoot the 6d, an OMD m 4/3 and various film cameras. There is a significant trend towards mirror less and lighter weight set ups.
I love this camera, this is definitely NOT an entry level prosumer camera, so if you just want the best of the best, this is not for you. There is no real "auto" setting. If you love photography you'll love the full frame sensor.

Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus, Fast Shutter Speed, Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, High ISO Performance, Large Clear LCD, Quiet

Short Battery Life
Awesome camera. Low light is outstanding and you can crop easily crop 60 +%. The only possible downsize is the weight. I don't see this as a carry camera.

I bought a 6D Fall 2013 and have been on a shooting binge, gaining a good feel for the features and performance of this camera. I also own a 5D MK II and 60D so it's hard not to notice the 6D is a marriage of the two older cameras: full frame innards of the 5D MKII coupled with the petite form...

easy on the shoulder, amazing image quality

No FEC button, missing popup flash
I bought the camera because of its GPS/WiFi and Full-frame features, but I was pleasantly surprised with the camera's ease of use in producing high quality images I previously was unable to obtain with my other Canon DSLR cameras.
If you're serious about photography this camera will blow you away. It really takes gorgeous pictures. Of course, at this price it should.Since digital SLR's came into being we've all gotten used to a viewfinder that gave you the impression of looking out through a tunnel.
This camera is great! the image quality is what you would expect from a high endfull frame camera. The bundle is okay but I've seen on other websites where the L series lens is offered as the kit lens but other than that it's awesome.
I have to say that this 6D is truly amazing!

* Clean sensor, * Low noise, * Well-built solid feel, * Lots of useful features Wifi, GPS, leveling, HDR, * The AF is extremely fast and accurate even in very low light, * Full frame sensor is a great plus for this body's price point, * Light body weight
-
-
* Lacking number of autofocus points compared to other bodies in it's capability range, * Limited shutter speed of 1/4000, * No flash pop up, * 1 card slot - Originally this bothered me. Then I decided to carry a tiny SD card in my pocket as a backup.
If you are a budding photographer looking to have your pictures look just that much sharper, this is your camera. However, it is not for the timid as it does take practice and you must know how to use it properly.
