Performance improvements raise the G7 X Mark II's grade to excellent, as long as you're not looking for a lot of frills.

  • +

The Canon PowerShot G7 X II is nicely designed with good photo quality for its class, and improves noticeably over the earlier model.

  • -

Still lags behind the competition with respect to features and some aspects of performance.

Purchased this camera a few days after it came out. I have had a succession of point and shoots as well as dslrs but never managed to get the portability ' quality of photo that I was happy with.I absolutely loved my Canon Powershot G11 but it got wet and died.

I love my Nikon DSLR, but I don't love hauling it around with me all day when I'm walking around sightseeing (and not out for a "serious" photography outing). I've been looking for a small, light camera that will be more capable than an inexpensive point-and-shoot or a phone.
