Some bridge cameras offer greater zooms, No touch screen, Image quality is mediocre
A competent travel and holiday camera with lots to recommend it, the PowerShot SX70 HS is a fine option for holidays in sunnier climes. If you need something that will deliver across a broader range of indoor and outdoor situations, it may be best to look towards a camera with a more modest zoom...

Easy and fast to use, Great handling, Decent autofocus performance, Effective image stabilisation, Pleasing 4K footage

Poor wide-angle performance, Build quality could be better, No touchscreen, Noisy images past lowest ISO settings, Auto white balance a little hit and miss
With a 1/2.3-inch sensor at its heart, only so much should be expected of the SX70 HS’s image quality. That said, pleasing results at mid-range focal lengths, together with a lovely electronic viewfinder, effective image stabilisation, good autofocus performance and speedy operation make it a...

The new Canon PowerShot SX70 HS is something of a mixed bag overall - it takes a few steps forward in terms of the features that it offers, but one big step backwards in image quality.
I waited patiently for the SX70, owning the SX50, SX60, and now this one. The upgrade is excellent, with better clarity, fast focus, and the shutter response is "cleaner". I love the panoramic function and I found it best utilized to widen shots a bit. Too wide of a scan flattens the overall image.
Just had supplied to me here in Spain, I have used the SX60 and SX50 now the 70I am pleased that the lens has been kept, others (Nikon) have just gone for longer and now the p1000 is just ridiculously long and suffers because of it, I used Nikon DSLRS and they are good but now because of age...
This camera has a fantastic fit to it. The grip, the metal and the rubber are all at perfection. Now add a DIGIC 8 processor technology to this camera and this is really a stand-out leader in the simple Point & Shoot camera.... It performs.Well, it sort of performs...
I've been waiting for this camera to be available for over a year. My Canon SX50 HS bit the dust last January. I really LOVE this camera as I knew I would because I loved my SX50 HS. I need a view finder so I had to wait for this camera to be available.
I have used the sx50 and 60 before so I got the 70 for the extra megapixels and what I found is the controls are all in great places, easy to find. The camera is a great size for traveling and for a full day of photography.
Bought this SX70 to replace my SX50. I enjoyed the SX50 for 5 years, but this SX70 is a nice upgrade!
I bought this camera (have had a 50X and loved it for several years) to take on a birding trip in January. Unfortunately I had to send the camera back to replace theLCD screen which is cracked. I was disappointed that I did not have the camera for the trip.
Snappy Bridge Camera. Versatile. Wonderful Sweep Panorama.
I was excited to get this camera as an upgrade from my 7-year old Canon SX40 that has served me quite well. The SX70 “upgrade” would offer higher sensor resolution (20 megapixels vs 12 ), wider and longer zoom capabilities, built-in WiFi with smartphone remote control to the camera (this was very...
