Capresso H2O PLUS Glass Water Kettle

This is my second time owing one of these. My first one lasted 2+years before the bronze ball on the bottom started flaking off metals. I'm two months into this one and the same thing is starting to happen. The silver ball in the bottom is getting these circular stains on it. It's hard to explain.

I have now purchased three separate capresso H2O plus water kettles. I'm done. The first lasted 2-3 years. the last two have barely lasted a year. Both of the last two have had a failed heating element or thermostat. Either way the power was still on but the kettle no longer functioned.

I purchased this kettle to replace my favorite kettle from Asia. I am very happy with my purchase because it heats up quickly and has an auto stop after the water completely boils. I would definitely buy the Capresso again.

Loved it for six years, then the soft-touch rubber coating on the handle went sticky just the way that particular stuff seems to do on everything else I've ever owned that had it, and that's the end of a perfectly functional appliance.

For some reason, this kettle started showing small spots of rust on the heating element after just a few months of use. Very disappointed, especially since I've owned the same model in the past and it lasted several years without any issue.

This electric kettle is a lovely and efficient device, but it makes the water taste like rubber. I've tried removing the smell with a whole host of solvents, including baking soda which is what is recommended online. I've boiled hundreds of pots of water over months of time.

The tea kettle looks nice and it boils the water just fine, but the unit does create a bad taste in the water. I boiled many pots of water using filtered and tap water to try and work the metallic taste out, but many months later have not been successful. I am disappointed in the purchase.

Very expensive and it lasted 1 year only. Now it takes forever to boil it stops and starts again after 2 minutes until water boils. Very annoying.

Pros: I have used daily for 1.5 years and it boils very quickly. Cons: After about 6 months the heating element starting rusting. Though it works (and tastes) just the same, it is less attractive. Also, the plastic handle has started coming off and the lid no longer shuts all the way.
