Fujifilm 18mm f/2.0 XF R Lens

Fujifilm XF 18mm f/2.0 R This lens is one of three introduced with Fujifilm's X-Pro1 interchangeable lens digital camera. It offers an angle of view equivalent to a 27mm lens on a 35mm camera, a bright maximum aperture of f/2 and costs around £550.

The Fujinon XF 18mm f/2 R is certainly a cool little lens for the Fujifilm X-Pro mirrorless system. After all small is beautiful these days. However, performance-wise it is a bit of a mixed bag.

Many photographers will love the straightforward, traditional design, which makes changing the aperture setting very direct. The build quality is what you might expect from a prime lens with a £550 price tag, even considering the very low weight.

love this lensis the 16 nicer?..surebut its bigger heavier, and 2xs the costmy 3 lens travel kit is this, 35/1.4 and 56/1.2covers all my needs

Granted most wide angle lens today are compact, but for the speed and size this one is hard to beat. They could have made this slightly faster but it has a shallow depth of field that is great for my purposes. The images are very rectilinear and nearly sharp corner to corner.

Great performance for a fast wide angle lens. F2 is totally usable, very sharp in the centre a bit softer at the edges but still very good. Most apertures follow this pattern but then most fast wide angle lenses are softer on the edges and corners.

Great lens on the X Pro 2. Regardless of what some bench tests say, the image quality is superb and makes my X Pro 2 pocket-able for those occasions when the D800 is either not practical, conspicuous, or to dangerous to carry.
