The Fujifilm X-Pro2 puts an optical viewfinder in a slim mirrorless design, making it one of the most fun—and capable—cameras on the market.

By: yobellzaa 3579 days ago XF 35mm f/1.4 R This standard lens for the Fujifilm X-Pro1 interchangeable lens camera provides a field of view equivalent to a 51mm lens on a 35mm camera, sports a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture and costs around £550.

  • +

Extremely sharp in the centre when stopped down, Very good sharpness towards the edges when stopped down, Very Lightweight, Traditional design, Excellent build

  • -

Auto focus is a little on the slow side, Can be tricky to get accurate focus at wide apertures

The Fuji XF 35mm f/1.4 R is a very impressive lens in Fuji’s current X-mount lenses. Being the first to launch with the X-Pro1, it does have a couple of annoyances like aperture chatter, loose aperture ring, and an awkward, easy-to-lose rubber lens cap.

As you may have noticed in the sample images section I enjoyed my time with Fujinon XF 35mm f/1.4 R during a business trip to Japan. Technically it may not be a perfect lens but it is capable of delivering very nice results. The center quality is breathtaking even at max.

There's not much more to say that the test results don't already show: very good performance, even when used wide open, and excellent performance when stopped down just a little. If you're an X-Pro 1 user, this lens definitely deserves a place in your bag.

The Fujifilm XF 35mm F1.4 R offers a classic standard focal length and an ultra-fast aperture, making it well-suited to street, reportage and low-light photography. Optically it's also a great lens in its own right, with virtually nothing to complain about, and even the price is reasonable for what...

The Fujinon XF 35 mm f/1.4 R is the most expensive standard lens for APS-C/DX class sensors. The price difference between it and the Nikon 1.8/35 construction or that of the Sony can be understood: the Fujinon is faster and its build quality – better.

solid and compact casing, fitting well the body of the camera,, excellent image quality in the frame centre,, sensibly corrected chromatic aberration,, slight distortion,, negligible astigmatism,, decent work against bright light.

  • -

image quality near the maximum relative aperture on the edge of the frame should have been better,, noticeable longitudinal chromatic aberration,, distinct coma,, huge vignetting,, not very accurate autofocus.

With a field of view similar to the classic 50mm standard on a 35mm camera, this lens will already be on many X-Pro1 buyer's shopping lists. With this lenses ability to deliver extremely sharp images, it should win many fans amongst users of this new camera system.

This is my preferred FOV so it sits on my camera 90% of the time, Ive had plenty of time to use it and form an opinion of it.Good: Its a small lightweight lens. AF in AF-S is snappy and accurate. Images are sharp corner to corner across most of the aperture range.

It was one of the first Fuji lenses. And it's a bit different. It's not as sharp as most of the others wide open. Especially the corners get very soft. But still, wide open this is great for portraitures.

Great fast portrait lens- wide enough to give a bit of an environmental feel, but telephoto enough to bring the subject into focus nicely in its context. This lens on a APS-C sensor translates to about a 50mm on a Full-Frame or 35mm camera, so it gives a level of compression of background from...

I love this lens. From the three lenses I have this is my second favorite because of the focal length and of course the 1.4 . I really like that it isn't too big and it isn't too small either. This works great for many situations and conditions (main reason I purchased it).

Just get it. This lens is made to a very high quality standard. Images are sharp, straight, clear, contrasty, and evenly illuminated. The barrel and rings and, well, everything are made of metal. Its small and light and opens new worlds of photographic possibilities.

This is a beautiful, affordable and well-constructed piece of optical goodness in a sturdy and relatively compact shell. Although it's not tack sharp at f/1.4 (does such a lens even exist), sharpness wide open is still very impressive. There is a generous sweet spot that's totally useable.

Fuji makes great lenses and this one is my favorite. It is rock solid and is super sharp. Another plus is that I think it is a little faster to focus with the new AF programs of the X-T3.

bought this lens and the 35/2 WR while the WR lens was smaller, quieter it was ,in my mind, boring the 35/1.4 has more character maybe because it isn't perfect, I don't know I liken it to my old Nikon Noct, which everyone loved to knock not critically sharp, vignettes, not so smooth OOF etc...

I'll say it here and now - this is one of the best pieces of glass I've owned. It's small, light, beautifully built, has stunning image quality - even wide open it's super-sharp with the smallest amount of softening at the edges.

This magic lens is crazy sharp wide open at 1.4. It has as certain character and rendition of images that is hard to explain or describe. When I first saw the images it produced, it was a OMG moment.
