Went ahead and grabbed this plus the 50-135 shortly after they were both released and all don't regret it at all. I saved this review until I got at least 100 hours out of the lenses and here I am- and have not been disappointed.
Ive had this lens for a couple weeks and so far so good! Its gearing is a bit torque heavy than expected but I guess I prefer this to no torque since the focus pulls and zooms will be less whip lash fast on the types of projects I will be using this lens on.
still lenses are very frustrating to go back to after using this lens
Wow... what a great lens! At this price point you won't need anything else.

I really believe this is a difficult lens to review.... Hits the price point where DSLR shooters are interested, but also experienced DoP's using Cabrio's and Large PL cinema zoom lenses are interested too. If you're use to SLR glass, this can introduce you to the convenience of a cinema built lens.
I prefer manual lens and do not us SLR glass since it is not parfocal. This lens is parfocal, low cost, sharp, smooth, light, 2.9, and 18-55 is perfect for a lot of my shooting.Just used on a two day job and with FS7 using SLOG which I always use. The results are stunning.
I really wanted to love this lens but it's no where near a Cabrio. The lens is plastic and feels cheap, focus throw is too short and I found it hard to hit critical focus. No servo and no image stabilization. The Sony 18-110 is a better lens for the money.
It is very good I like it .
