The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 14mm F2.8 R is an impressively compact f/2.8 wide-angle lens with sharp optics.
-
+
Very sharp. Minimal distortion. Manual focus clutch. 7.1-inch close focus. Compact.
-
-
Lacks optical stabilization. Aperture ring too easily turned. Pricey.
The XF 14mm F2.8 R is a solid, well-made lens that sports traditional aperture and manual focus rings. It's not bad at F2.8 and offers excellent image quality stopped down, where superb cross-frame sharpness and minimal distortion make it ideal for architectural and landscape work.
-
+
Extremely sharp across the frame at normal working apertures (F5.6 - F11), Minimal distortion, Minimal chromatic aberration, Well-implemented manual focusing, Quiet autofocus, Solid construction
-
-
Soft corners at F2.8, Moderately strong vignetting at F2.8 (corrected by camera's JPEG processing), Loose click-stops on aperture ring, No way of combining manual focus and autofocus, Slowish autofocus, Expensive
Handling and features This ultra wide angle prime lens for the Fuji X-Pro1 interchangeable lens camera provides a field of view equivalent to a 21mm lens on a 35mm camera, sports a maximum aperture of f/2.8 and costs around £770.
The Fujinon XF 14mm f/2.8 R is a highly attractive ultra-wide lens with few shortcomings. The most important factor for an ultra-wide lens is certainly image sharpness and the Fujinon delivers here. It is bitingly sharp in the image center and good to very good in the outer image region.
Ultra-wide angle lenses don't generally get much better than this optic. Sure this lens isn't cheap, but you get a lens that is more than capable of delivering superb results with extremely low distortion, barely any sign of chromatic aberrations and outstanding sharpness.

+
Extremely sharp in the centre, Excellent sharpness towards the edges when stopped down, Lightweight, Useful hyperfocal scale, Excellent build, Virtually no distortion, Low CA levels

Falloff of illumination towards the corners can be quite pronounced
I initially bought the XT-1 camera with a 18-135 zoom lens because, as a very happy owner of the Fuji X100s, I felt the need for a longer, more versatile lens that would get me where I needed when "zooming with my feet" was impossible.
This glass is amazing. The sharpness is unbelievable. I was expecting a decent lens, but this by far exceeded my expectations. If you are in the market for a Fuji wide angle, I would not hesitate buying this.
This is a fantastic lens ... very sharp and extremely well made.
Great lens and use it quite often and real sharp a must have in your camera bag.
Compact and very sharp, decided to buy this one instead of the Fuji10-24mm because of the size.
fast, wide angles lens, for landscape photography and good for low light
I've been on the hunt for great 90 degree FOV glass for many years, knowing that Zeiss is the standard by which all others are judged. Having used Nikon 20mm AI, 20mm AF-S and Nikon wide zooms and tested several others including Loxia 21mm, I can safely say that this XF 14mm is the best of it's kind...
I left Sony and this was one of the lenses that influenced me. The Loxia 21 is exemplary, but manual focus and expensive. This lens is it's equivalent in every way rendering sharp, aberration-free images from wide open. There is no hesitation in using this lens at all.
