When the launch of the Fujinon XF 8–16 mm f/2.8 R LM WR was announced I was very enthusiastic. Then we got to know its price and I thought that only brilliant performance in the majority of testing categories might keep me feeling that way.

  huge, solid, weather-sealed casing,, sensational image quality in the frame centre,, sensible image quality on the edge of the frame in the 12–16 mm range,, slight longitudinal chromatic aberration,, low lateral chromatic aberration,, silent and very fast autofocus.

Monster Glass for a mirrorless, you know its in your bag and in your hand. The wide 8mm angle opens up another avenue of creativity on how you want to perceive the world as an artist, correct distortion or not.

Ive never owned a lens wider than 18mm equivalent. This lens opens up a whole new area of creativity for me. As with my other X series lenses, this one is built like a tank and optical performance is excellent. Ive taken it on a couple of hiking trips and the images are stunning.

It evokes memories of my old rectilinear 15mm Nikkor, except it is sharper and of course is a zoom. Heavy and bulky but easily tolerated because it produces such incredible artistic perspective. Focuses very rapidly on a X-H1 and invites creativity.

Good acquisition for my fuji xt3 being a crop camera, helps a lot on the wide side. The only thing is you cant put a lens filter to do that you have to invest in more gear.

The Fujifilm XF 8-16mm f/2.8 is an optically solid lens that renders sharp and vibrant images. The only downside is its heavy weight when attached to my X-T30 but it is okay. I attach it with a monopod for portability. Overall it is a reliable camera lens to use.

Joy to use but heavy. Great landscape lens wish it had proper depth of field marks like older lens.
