The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 23mm F1.4 R is a classic wide-angle lens with impeccable sharpness and an f/1.4 aperture.

Sharp from edge to edge at f/1.4. Minimal distortion. Manual focus clutch. Aperture ring.
-
-
Lacks stabilization and weather sealing. Pricey.
This wide angle lens for Fuji X series interchangeable lens cameras provides a field of view equivalent to a 35mm lens on a 35mm camera, sports a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture and costs around £780.
The Fujinon XF 23 mm f/1.4 R, tested here by us, must get a really positive assessment. Still the situation is hardly so rosy if you start comparing the price of that lens to the prices of its rivals.

solid casing,, excellent image quality in the frame centre,, good image quality on the edge of the frame,, proper correction of lateral chromatic aberration,, slight spherical aberration,, imperceptible distortion,, defocused images pleasing to the eye,, very good work against bright light,, fast...

significant lateral chromatic aberration,, huge vignetting near the maximum relative aperture,, a bit too high coma
The Fujinon XF 23mm f/1.4 R is a highly attractive addition to the Fujifilm lens lineup. It combines an ultra-large aperture with high quality results. At large aperture settings the center quality is already pretty high whereas the borders/corners are at least on a good level.
Sporting the same field of view as a 35mm lens does on a 35mm camera, this lens should be a popular choice for the wish list of many Fuji X-series camera owners, especially with that fast f/1.4 maximum aperture.

Extremely sharp stopped down, Very good sharpness in the centre at maximum aperture, Lightweight, Useful hyperfocal scale, Excellent build

Not as sharp towards the edges of the frame at maximum aperture as you may expect
Awesome lens. Compared to my Fujifilm XF 16 - 55 mm lens, the 23 mm lens offers greater versatility in low light conditions. The 16 - 55 mm lens blurs photo images frequently when attempting photography in low light conditions (indoor in a school gymnasium, hallway).
A great sharp lens with my FujiFilm XT2, fast to focus and good performance in low light, incredibly shallow depth-of-field. I just got what I dream to have to compare my DSLR about color and saturation, I impressed by this lens.
This lens is on my XT2. fast focus, incediable vibrant images, great in low light, with an incredibly shallow depth-of-field. Better than my Nikon D810+85mm/1.8G
Nothing can beet a prime lens with 1.4 f stop. This setup allows so much freedom to do whatever you want. I have actually found that I need to sometimes back off and get more depth of field to capture the image I am looking for. Have yet to even try a flash with this setup.
This lens is on my XT2 about 90% of the time. It's quick to focus, offers vibrant images ... and going to 1.4, performs very well in low light, with an incredibly shallow depth-of-field. It's also fairly light, compared to quality glass for the bulkier DSLR's.
The lens I bought for Fujifilm pro2,and it can cover all about what I need for ,I can take beautiful photos with it,the lens is totally awesome!!
Sharp and beautiful bokeh!
Also my first prime that is wider than 50mm (ff equivalent). Love everything about it so far. Used in conjunction with my Canon 6D and 85mm lens.
This prime lens has become my work horse. I leave it on the camera ready for quick use. The Fuji kit zoom lenses are also terrific but I like the 1.4 for low light situations so that I do not have to crank up the ISO as much. There is a lower cost and lighter 23mm 2.0 prime on the market now.
