The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 23mm F1.4 R is a classic wide-angle lens with impeccable sharpness and an f/1.4 aperture.
-
+
Sharp from edge to edge at f/1.4. Minimal distortion. Manual focus clutch. Aperture ring.
-
-
Lacks stabilization and weather sealing. Pricey.
This wide angle lens for Fuji X series interchangeable lens cameras provides a field of view equivalent to a 35mm lens on a 35mm camera, sports a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture and costs around £780.
With a very even and impressive performance, weather resistance, great handling and high-quality finish it would be hard not to like this Fujifilm XF 35mm f/2 R WR lens. The Fujifilm XF 35mm f/2 R WR is an ideal standard lens for the range of Fujifilm cameras.

High-quality manufacture, Superb image quality throughout, Fast and silent operation, Convenient aperture ring choice, Weather resistance

Only in Fujifilm fitting, Lens hood provided is screw fit
The Fujinon XF 23 mm f/1.4 R, tested here by us, must get a really positive assessment. Still the situation is hardly so rosy if you start comparing the price of that lens to the prices of its rivals.

solid casing,, excellent image quality in the frame centre,, good image quality on the edge of the frame,, proper correction of lateral chromatic aberration,, slight spherical aberration,, imperceptible distortion,, defocused images pleasing to the eye,, very good work against bright light,, fast...

significant lateral chromatic aberration,, huge vignetting near the maximum relative aperture,, a bit too high coma
The Fujinon XF 23mm f/1.4 R is a highly attractive addition to the Fujifilm lens lineup. It combines an ultra-large aperture with high quality results. At large aperture settings the center quality is already pretty high whereas the borders/corners are at least on a good level.
Sporting the same field of view as a 35mm lens does on a 35mm camera, this lens should be a popular choice for the wish list of many Fuji X-series camera owners, especially with that fast f/1.4 maximum aperture.

+
Extremely sharp stopped down, Very good sharpness in the centre at maximum aperture, Lightweight, Useful hyperfocal scale, Excellent build

Not as sharp towards the edges of the frame at maximum aperture as you may expect
Just came back from weeklong trip along California Coast, where newly bought Fujifilm 23mm f/2 WR was used to take over 50% of my pictures. It seem to be ideal for street and casual photography, where small size and fast focusing is a definitely a great benefit.
This is a must have lens. . . It's small, and well built, and weather resistant. The only thing I have noticed is that when I use the lens wide open, at F/2, in higher contrast situations it tends to have a flare around the edges of high contrast elements in the photo, not appealing.
I'm not a professional photographer, but certainly more than an enthusiast. I just converted to the Fuji X-T2 from many years with Canon film and digital. When the reviews say this is a quiet lens, it means s-i-l-e-n-t. My Canon lenses all made that zzzzt, zzzzt noise when focusing.

I bought this lens for general use when traveling or just taking photos of friends and family. It offers a moderately wide field of view for capturing locations during travel but you get cab get in close to fill the frame for more focus on a single subject .
An all around great lens that lives up the hype. Very compact and razor sharp! Highly recommend!
I built my photography portfolio on a 50mm and knew upgrading was key. I LOVE Fuji and couldn't be more happy with the purchase!
