When the launch of the Fujinon XF 8–16 mm f/2.8 R LM WR was announced I was very enthusiastic. Then we got to know its price and I thought that only brilliant performance in the majority of testing categories might keep me feeling that way.

  huge, solid, weather-sealed casing,, sensational image quality in the frame centre,, sensible image quality on the edge of the frame in the 12–16 mm range,, slight longitudinal chromatic aberration,, low lateral chromatic aberration,, silent and very fast autofocus.

  a bit too high coma,, very high distortion for RAW files,, significant vignetting for RAW files, resistant to stopping down.

The Fujifilm XF 8-16mm f/2.8 is an optically solid lens that renders sharp and vibrant images. The only downside is its heavy weight when attached to my X-T30 but it is okay. I attach it with a monopod for portability. Overall it is a reliable camera lens to use.

Joy to use but heavy. Great landscape lens wish it had proper depth of field marks like older lens.

A pricey but excellent lens and great value when discounted. Yes it is heavy but I don't feel it's front heavy with the camera as I hold the lens with one hand anyway. The new 10-24 is lighter, now has WR and a marked aperture ring but the image quality of this lens is, in my opinion, the next step...

  Very special lens

Good acquisition for my fuji xt3 being a crop camera, helps a lot on the wide side. The only thing is you cant put a lens filter to do that you have to invest in more gear.
