Futuristic looking upgrade from old electric stovetops. Not as easy to keep clean as you'd think- gets water spots and carelessness can scratch it. Use when gas isn't an option.

Immediate visual upgrade for an older kitchen

Spots must be cleaned immediately and certain cookware doesn't work
Great cooktop. Does what they say it does. The color is black with gray flecks in it which helps hide streaks and cooking grime but it is less attractive than a pure black surface would be. Easy to install.
The cooktop itseld is OK, but if you need to call GE for any type of service, be carefull. Instead of telling GE customers about locking the pets when GE calls to confirm a technician's visit, GE should tell them that if some part of their broken appliance will be open - it will cost an extra $100...
The installation took me about two hours due to the existing cutout on the marble counter being a tad undersize. Cutting marble was quite a task. Once the cutout was properly adjusted, the cooktop dropped in nicely.
