The Google Home Mini’s existence is hardly a mystery: the squat little smart speaker is Google’s retort to the Amazon Echo Dot. Packaging the virtues of the Google Assistant into a smaller, cheaper form factor than the existing Google Home , it’s a $49 way to add the search company’s smarts – and...

Cheap way to try Google's voice features, Discreet, cute design, Google keeps adding features
-
-
Audio quality is poor, No Bluetooth A2DP or 3.5mm output, Echo Dot can still be found cheaper
The Google Home Mini stands tall as one of the best affordable smart speakers out there, along with the Amazon Echo Dot, but it doesn't do enough to supplant the Dot at the top of the list.
-
+
The Google Home Mini puts all of the smarts of Google Assistant into a small and affordable package. The Mini sounds surprisingly good for its size and features a colorful design that can blend into your home's decor.
-
-
The Mini's touch controls aren't intuitive, it doesn't have a line-out jack like the Amazon Echo Dot, and the built-in Google Assistant still doesn't have quite as many features as the Dot's built-in assistant, Alexa.
The Google Home Mini smart speaker takes on Amazon's Echo Dot with a cute, fabric-covered design and Google Assistant smarts, but its lack of an audio out is a major bummer.
-
+
Inexpensive., Nice design., Better sound quality than the Echo Dot., Better at answering music-related queries than Alexa.
-
-
Lacks audio out., Google Home still offers less support for third-party services than Alexa.
The Google Home Mini primarily serves as an easy entry point for a Google voice command system. It's $50, and you can just plug it in, and it will work. You don't have to buy a new $800 smartphone or a heavier $129 box.
-
+
It's cheap! For $50, newbies can easily experiment with Google's voice command system., The mostly cloth design merges easily into a home decor., It's small. You can put it anywhere, and it won't be in the way.
-
-
Google Home still feels like an early adopter product., Music was the Google Home's best feature, and this doesn't really work with music., The sound the speaker pumps out.
The Google Home Mini is quite literally a mini version of the standard Google Home. It’s really competing directly with the Amazon Echo Dot , but with more of a focus on design and audio quality. At $50, it’s priced affordably and has a lot to offer.
-
+
Attractive design, Better audio quality than Amazon Echo Dot, Affordable, Works with most smart home devices and music streaming services, Google Assistant works quickly and accurately
-
-
Shopping feature with Walmart is still nascent, Audio quality falls apart at high volumes, Cannot pair directly with other speakers (requires Chromecast Audio)
If you're looking for a device that's capable of controlling your disparate smart home products, then the Home Mini is a viable alternative.
-
+
Affordable, Sleek and small, Voice control works great
-
-
Sound quality is poor, Lacks Alexa's skills, just like the Google Home, No direct competitors in the Canadian market
In the race for smart speaker supremacy, Google has always felt a step behind. When the original Google Home device hit the market, Amazon already had two years on them with their Echo.
-
+
Good sound despite its small size, Can differentiate voices, Google Assistant is in a class by itself
-
-
Phone calls were not as clear as we'd like, No audio jack or ability to connect to Bluetooth speaker
The Google Home Mini is everything that's great about Google Home at a fraction of the cost.
-
+
Google Assistant is hard to beat , Surprisingly good sound for a tiny speaker , Design you won't mind staring at
-
-
No aux connector , Awkward touch controls
The Google Home Mini looks and sounds better than Amazon's smallest Alexa speaker, but it's not quite as versatile.
-
+
Attractive design, Inexpensive, Great audio quality for size, Can control Android TVs and Chromecast
-
-
Hard to see status lights from across room, Doesn't work with as many smart-home devices as Alexa, Can't pair with Bluetooth speakers and no line-out
Google Home Mini is a great option, in case if you are looking for an entry-level smart speaker. Sure, it doesn’t sound as good as the Home, but it will get the job done. This is a proper smart speaker and is no way less capable than the Google Home, which costs Rs 9,999.
Hubby doesn’t care for smart phone (old fashioned) but he loves using his Google Mini for questions answered, playing his favorite songs, and the convenience of telling Google “volume up/ volume down” without getting out of his favorite chair. We recommend this item highly.
I have two of these, one in the bedroom and one in the kitchen, my home is not set up for "smart" stuff, but I love using them for shopping lists, recipes, and reminders. I also can ask "Ms. Mini" for music. I have them set with female British accents, so it is a lot of fun. Highly Recommend.
I talked with Google Home chat line and they told me it would work for contacts, calling, and calendar. Said they would email instructions which they never did. Now I find a long thread on google home support saying none of this works.Try to spell a word and it spells it out in rapid fire.
So easy to install, and can set up in many languages, in special on Spanish, and some time is more accurate than echo dot, when recognize your voice I like that differenciate the accounts and do things instead of your data.
We love our Google Home Mini. I got one for each of my siblings. I love asking questions without having to go search on my phone. Monopoly game rules, distance to destination, history, weather, and my favorite podcast of Joyce Meyers accompanies me during morning coffee.

I expected a knowledge base similar to Google Assistant on my smart phone, but it's not so smart. I often try Mini but it doesn't have the answer, but Assistant does.
I have the set of 3 all over my house. Great product, very useful. Love it!
Google home mini is a great personal assistant that helps.with knowing the weather, controlling your smart devices in your home or just getting a laugh from the jokes Google tells.
I have a combination of these and the new Nest Minis. They maintain internet connection great and continue getting more functionality updates. It's just a nice device to have for music, setting reminders, adding stuff to shopping lists and other random things.
