I live in a house that's over 100 years old. No central A/C and radiator heat (which is awesome). I have purchased my 3rd LG window AC unit for a guest bedroom. The other two I've purchased take care of the rest of the house - which now feels like it does have C/A!
Works well in terms of cooling but it is really loud. I didn't expect it to be so loud. It's kind of annoying if you are listening to music or watching TV or even trying to have a conversation.
Compact, quiet, powerful, more than adequate for the 300 SF room it is cooling. I considered larger units and more expensive brands, and correctly chose this one. It gets the job done.
Purchased this a little over a week ago. It is the only air conditioner on the 1st floor of my home. The 1st floor is around 800 sq ft It cools off about two and a half rooms which is more than I expected (I have 4 rooms on the first floor along with a long hallway.
The 8000BTU LG air conditioner keeps our entire 850 sq. ft. apartment pleasantly cool; since we purchased it for the bedroom, I have not run our old, secondary unit in our living room once, because the LG generates cooled air so efficiently.
This unit is much quieter than the comparable GE AEL08LV model. We originally purchased the GE AEL08LV model at the same specs and price. After 60 days it started having a very loud vibrating noise every time the compressor kicked on. We took it back and got the LG LW8016ER model to replace it.
Does a great job keeping our bedroom comfortable at night without having to cool the entire house. The fan is quite loud, but we haven't experienced any other noises from the unit. Replaced a 6000BTU Danby unit that only lasted 2 seasons.
8000 BTU isn't really enough to cool a whole apartment but I knew that and cheaped out. In saying that this does a pretty good job of keep the main living area of the apartment cool on a Chicago summer day and you can feel it a bit in the bedroom so it suits me fine for this summer.
Works well in the space that needs to be cooling. Just note that the "Energy mode" has the unit run every 3 minutes briefly to check temperature and will cycle on if need be. Not sure how the other units work in this mode. But overall it does a great job cooling the space required.
Despite it being a fairly good air conditioner, the amount of rattling by all the plastic parts and the overall noise level made me really hate this unit. Since it's in my room, I hear it a lot and it's very distracting. No matter what I do, it will not stop rattling.
